Glad to see Visions of Eight getting a standalone, although I have it in the set.
If you already have a release of a film, might as well only get the other for some exclusive content or some other features. It's what I've deemed I'm only wanting the CC BD of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas for, which are obviously the bonus and not the already antiquated transfer which ARROW bests. This is true now for quite a lot of Criterion titles which I'd like for my collection, which would be glorified bonus feature discs. YMMV.
Regarding Notorious, Rebecca, and, should've been announced for this wave, Spellbound. Yes, I'm keeping the MGM BDs for the bonus features. Yes, YOU are able to own more than one release of a film, especially if you're multi-region capable! I already am, as my signature attests. Why be limited by only one distributor?

Would be nice if both carried over all of the MGM DVD bonus features. Criterion forgot to do so with , keeping it, for their BD. Very close to getting the itv/nework UK BDs but both are BD25...

Honestly wouldn't mind if Kino Released both. Or Arrow. Downhill I know is with THE LODGER Criterion BD so that's already taken care of.

I rarely double-dip, and even then it would be for a better presentation of the film, not extras. The Human Condition is such a monumental achievement that I'd definitely be tempted during a sale if there's a tangible upgrade.

I'm also waiting patiently for that alleged upgrade of Spellbound - and will be keeping the Criterion DVD and MGM BD.

Really glad to see The Human Condition on BD here. I'll probably be sticking with my Arrow BD, but it is a huge piece that is a film everyone should check out and will never forget, and now that it's on BD from Criterion, I'm very happy more people will get to experience it.

ARROW’s The Human Condition was the first disc I bought when I went region free. Still have the Criterion DVD. So I have the movie and Criterion extras. Especially excited for Pariah. Will echo what someone else said. With Mudbound also got announced. Really excited for the rest of the line up!

With the announcement of the Human Condition trilogy, Criterion could release nothing of interest for me for the remainder of the year, and I would still say 2021 was a good year.

Maybe Shotwell, if he’s still around, raised his asking price now that the Happy Birthday money is on the table.

Pardon my question but when I read the newsletter including Pickup On South Street my mind immediately went "what again?"
Hasn't this title been released multiple times in the past? I'm sure I have the Fox Noir DVD and the Eureka Bluray, and those are blind buys. Why not release something that's never been on Bluray?

Not everyone is region free. And who knows how long before Eureka's BluRay will go OOP? Many of the Fox Fuller films are OOP or getting close to going OOP, so those who missed out on them will have a second chance to get this film.

Not to mention currently right now Eureka's release is listed as out of stock at Amazon UK.

So you'd say it looks better than the Eureka?

Definitely STREETWISE for me.

I used to go into downtown Seattle every weekend back then, and I remember seeing those sad kids on the streets. i never hung out with them, but I saw quite a bit of them, as well as other people like them, as i walked around downtown.

Here's a comparison of the Eureka vs Criterion screens for Pickup on South Street I posted in the Film Noir thread

Here's two shots from the same scene

Eureka

Criterion (from their product page, potentially not what the BD will look like)

Is this another probable title they licensed before the mouse struck?

Only have the MGM BD myself, which I already mentioned, but still wanting to get the Criterion DVD since my guess it'll have text-based extras which might not be on the BD.

Almost certainly. I wonder how many Fox titles they have left to release.
