A few dual-format editions are officially cycling out of production. Stand-alone BDs with new UPCs are scheduled for June:
  • Breaking the Waves -- June 29
  • Frances Ha -- June 29
  • George Washington -- June 29
  • Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion -- June 8
  • King of The Hill -- June 29
  • Love Streams -- June 29
  • Y Tu Mama También -- June 8

By Brakhage: An Anthology -- Volumes 1 & 2 is also scheduled for June 15th with a new UPC, but it's not presently a dual-format release, so not sure what the change is there.

Odd, I wonder if it is being repackaged in a plastic case instead of a digipak? But I don't think that wouldn't explain the new UPC.

Possible -- Lower price point too, $59.95 SRP vs the old $79.95 SRP -- but still touting three discs.

Still early days, so that may change.

My gut tells me Criterion is gonna make a big announcement this Friday.

Maybe a surprise box set?

Booklet is over 90 pages, but maybe they'll do a Yojimbo/Sanjuro style release with two Scanavos and the booklet split in two with a slipcase.

I would be happy if they just released A Fugitive in a Chain Gang.

I just opened up my Godzilla set and found that several of the discs had fallen down into the cracks of their placeholders and when I pulled them up and out, there was sticky stuff in the ends.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Now I have to figure out how to safely clean the sticky stuff off the discs and hope that they still play properly.

Any good way to do this?

Yeah, happened to mine. They cleaned up fine and are now not stored in that book anymore.

Unacceptably wack on Criterion’s part, given the cost of the set.

I haven't bought the set yet, but thanks for the heads up.

On another note, Godzilla himself might be responsible for this minor catastrophe. Better call up King Kong for retribution!

I just got to disk five of my Zatoichi set (original 27-disk release) and found that it and the next had done similar; in fact, when I tried to retrieve it, the edge of the disk popped out from the bottom of the page

No sticky residue luckily but a scary moment!

I've been storing my Godzilla set horizontally to try and avoid that issue. Maybe I should just break down and buy spare cases, though.

Started digging into BFI’s Woodfall set. I hope Criterion upgrades This Sporting Life!

I know less likely. But I would love. Blu of Tony Richardson’s Hamlet!
