We will never get a Walker upgrade unless I buy the DVD at the next sale.

Something from Dreyer, Bresson, Ozu or Mizoguchi would be most welcome.

Also would like to see either Red Beard, When a Woman Ascends the Stairs or Fires on the Plain get an upgrade.

I fully expect them to now be in this weeks announcements
I recently picked it up for $7.95 at Hamilton Book. Didn't see that one coming!

I would totally flip out if they announced more Hideo Gosha. I love Three Outlaw Samurai and have been itching to rewatch Sword of the Beast and Goyokin.

Goyokin would be a dream come true. I've been bugging Criterion for over 10 years to release more his work, and nothing. Hunter in the Dark is one of my favorite films as well. Tenchu! would be mind-boggling as its Shintaro Katsu's best performance.

Mahahiro Shinoda and especially Keisuke Kinoshita and of course Mikio Naruse are all woefully underrepresented on blu ray.

That they are. I think all of them, including Hideo Gosha only have 1 film on Blu-ray. (could be wrong). However, the amount of films that Criterion has that they directed is staggering.

Seems like every month someone, somewhere, is disappointed. This guy wants John Sayles, this other guy wants Todd Solondz. I just lower my expectations now so I’m never disappointed

Yeah, I try to go in with a blank slate, but I'm always excited about new Japanese titles, and always have certain upgrades I'm crossing my fingers for (*cough*24 Eyes and When a Woman Ascends the Stairs*cough*).

You should get that cough checked up lol. But yeah we’ve all got our wishlists. I thought the Godzilla and Olympics stuff was a waste of time, but I’m sure others love it. Everybody seems to have different taste. I don’t think Deep Cover is more worthy than One False Move or Leon the Professional, but here we are. So many people sighed relief when Bringing Up Baby and Mirror got announced last month. Me too.

Personally, I’m itching for more Kubrick, Chaplin, John Woo, and Almodovar.

I KEEP getting burned like that, LOL.

Last year, I imported "A Rainy Day in New York", "The Elephant Man", and "Crash", only to be double dipping later in the year when all of those saw US releases. This year, I imported "The Pianist", and now it's coming out in the US, and I imported Abel Ferrara's "Siberia", and now it, too, is coming out in the US. I just need to learn that good things come to those who wait.

On the other hand, I've got a slew of imports I bought years ago that have never seen US releases. You just never know.
