There are still licensing deals in place. Two years ago, Twilight Time announced The Paper Chase only to have to backtrack on it indicating it had already been taken. The rumor is that it is with Criterion. Pickup on South Street is getting an upgrade next month, I would imagine other DVD licensed titles Unfaithfully Yours and Thieves Highway are coming in the near future since they have recent 4k restorations. Robert Altman's A Wedding also rumored to be with Criterion. There are most likely others still in the works. Time will tell.

For what it's worth, The Man In The Gray Flannel Suit is showing on Park Circus as having a new 4K DCP, but like said, it being on the Channel doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be on disc.

I guess you’re right. Speaking of Kubrick, Clockwork Orange and Eyes Wide Shut are in dire need of a restoration. I bought them on Blu-ray many years ago, and it was honestly a waste of money.

Criterion had to push all those Fox titles back to focus on their woke titles.

The video (and audio) quality should be the deciding factor regardless. But I've never been a Criterion loyalist. I only buy their movies because I can't physically get them elsewhere in good quality. I don't even read the essays.

I have all the 4K Kubrick movies so far. I know Criterion has the best version of Barry Lyndon, but I'm sticking with my Warner Brothers Blu-ray with the hope that they will release a 4K. Still haven't rewatched it in the five years since I've had it, even thought I found it great. I wanna save the rewatch for the 4K.

Is Criterion still even releasing Fox movies? Leave Her to Heaven was a while ago, and probably purchased before the Disney buyout.

They've released "An Unmarried Woman", "Claudine", "The Gunfighter", "Nightmare Alley", and "Pickup on South Street" since "Leave Her to Heaven".

Woke is a term used positively by people to describe being aware there are other valid experiences and viewpoints in the world other than your own, and acting in a way that values and respects that, and is keen to learn from it. Because the dominant view in media is usually that of older white men then it goes hand in hand with giving people who aren’t that a greater platform.

It’s also often used as an insult by people who think that it means exactly the same thing.

(And I also like that Criterion sees its mission for each title as not necessarily jamming in every possible special feature, but like a great cineaste book, establishing a theme and then selecting extras and content that supports that theme. I like big projects with a viewpoint.)
This.

Caught “Man Bites Dog” on HBOMax. Solid film, but alas, no release yet.

Did you quote that from Criterion’s mission statement

You were trembling with anger so much when Criterion announced Do the Right Thing that your neckbeard and fedora nearly came off.

Also... Bill Hicks >>> Ricky Gervais (look up Bill Hicks)

And... Eyes Wide Shut is NOT about Hollywood pedophile satanic cults lol

I don’t agree. I don’t interpret woke like you do. Woke isn’t used by people with common sense to describe being aware of other valid experiences and viewpoints and respecting that. I acknowledge that people have other viewpoints etc and respect that but I don’t call it woke, except when it’s bollocks. And there is a lot of bollocks out there that I don’t want to learn from because it’s modern meaningless rubbish.

Back on subject Criterion usually release great editions of films such as The Great Escape and Stagecoach (1939)

This demonstrates the bigotry and illogic of so called 'Woke' culture.

Discussions about wokeness and cancel culture are the worst part of this website by far. I wish there were certain word filters that just auto-removed some posts.
