I'm more interested in what 1111 will be. I'm sure it'll be just as arbitrary.

Van Peebles box is cool, but I'll likely pass (though I do enjoy Watermelon Man)

Could any owners of The Inland Sea be so kind as to confirm the existence of inner print? Is the included literature a booklet or leaflet?

The site database entry lists both English and English SDH subtitles for the release. Can anyone confirm if both of these are present on the disc?

Thanks!

Yes, I have the VS release of Sweetback and I’d be down with a stand-alone region A release of Watermelon Man, but I’m not sure I’m up for the whole box set.

So, why was Nathan Lane at the Criterion office?

It also seems like Mr. Lane does not own a Blu-ray player.

The Birdcage is the first thing to come to mind, unless he was there for a supplemental purpose for something else.

Watched the video--his little mention of Birdcage when looking at Mikey and Nickey didn't really seem to be a tell. That being said, that disc could def. use a pick-up. And Elaine May and Nichols are kinda hot right now.

That video was a fun one, though. I liked Lane reading about the movies, some for the first time. And the Being There musical anecdote was way cool.

It's Pride month, and there will be a 25th anniversary screening of The Bird Cage in theaters this month as well. So might not be associated with a release at all.

It includes a 5-panel fold-out leaflet with an essay by Arturo Silva

So, Criterion could've already released Peeping Tom, The Trial and The 3/4 Musketeers and they insist in releasing woke sheet instead? Does it actually shift any units? I don't think so. Even with library sales, Criterion is digging its own grave as fast as they can, as well as helping to make the demise of physical media an inevitable reality.

I did just bough The Birdcage so there could be a good chance of it getting a Criterion release.

Seeing as 'The Birdcage' seemingly may no longer be in print on blu-ray under MGM and it's a bigger title, which they have released the original in the past, I could see Criterion picking it up. It's a culturally significant film and they've worked with MGM/UA in the past so the rights being licensed is possible. However I would think they would have announced it earlier this year to have released during pride month, but who knows...

They take so long that it may be waiting for next June.

Too bad he couldn't pique Sondheim's interest in it, I think that would be great. They could've called it Chance!

Also, I was intrigued by this remake of Valley of the Dolls that Nathan Lane was in where Gene Simmons plays the Susan Hayward role... that sounds crazy AF!

So, I looked it up and it turns out it was Jean Simmons, LOL. It's still probably still pretty trashy, but not quite as insane as I imagined it would be.

i think the pattern is; 2 years, 3 years, 4 years.... etc. So the next one would be 2022.

All I'm going to say is that, yes, Criterion really needs to release the Musketeer films already instead of simply allowing them collect dust for over a decade.

Peeping Tom and (The Trial too I think) are meant to be getting 4k restorations from Studiocanal. I assume they are waiting for those to be completed before releasing them.
