Will they attempt a blu-UHD dual format? Will blu-ray only collectors throw a fit and get them to stop like DVD collectors did?

Will UHD be stand alone? I can't imagine Criterion opting to have 3 different releases on shelves.

An ideal outcome (for me, I must stress) is the removal of DVD entirely (send it to streaming) and a $35.00 MSRP for blu-ray and a $39.99 for UHD. I just can't wrap my head around anything higher than $40 for a single title, unless Criterion UHD line is going to aim for premium packaging.
you can't compare msrp to retail... the msrp on those arrow releases is usually $60...

Criterion Channel tweeted an image from Written on the Wind today.

A physical release was "confirmed" three and a half years ago. Really hoping we get this sometime soon.

No way I'm going to be able to double-dip on all of my existing Criterion Blu-rays for 4K upgrades, but I need a Paris, Texas 4K UHD in my life.

The Three Colors Trilogy will be getting a 4K UHD release in France on November 2nd of this year.

I wouldn't be surprised if Criterion reissues this, once they get UHD rolling.

There are Blu-ray's that are already available, but their picture somewhat suffers. Hopefully Criterion will do a new 4K/2K restoration on the following masterpieces like: Network (1976), Eyes Wide Shut (1999), Amadeus (1984), Strange Days (1995), Eyes of Laura Mars (1978), The Forgotten (2004).

I think that, and The Thin Red Line, would be great choices from an aesthetic perspective.

Have to wonder if Criterion has enough clout for a WB/Paramount/Sony 4K license. Hoping for No Country for Old Men.

Even if it doesn't end up being their first release, I have a feeling this is bound to happen eventually.

What’s the chance that it isn’t one 4K but a set? There’s that rumored set from Soderbergh including Kafka and others. Maybe Soderbergh finally got Criterion to go 4K.

Rushmore is 4k on Disney+, and Isle of Dogs is 4k on iTunes, but neither are on disc anywhere.

They really fooled me with the Schwarzenegger/Kurosawa photo! I thought that was real for a bit.

OK...So frankly...it's about fuc*in time they got on the train. Secondly...I thought the whole rumble last week was that the UHD was going to be True Romance, which falls into the 30 year clue??? Has something changed?? I already have my Arrow incoming, so no CC sale if it happens, but at least the CC is possibly in the game now.

I say it's either Mulholland Drive, Silence of The Lambs, a Wes Anderson film, or Sex Lies and Videotape, or thee fabled upcoming Soderbergh set.

Any and all possibilities are juicy.
