The only two I haven't seen that's listed is Here's to the Young Lady, which of course starts at midnight Hawai'i time, and Sound of the Mountain which is a 5:30am start. So you may have to fill me in later on what those two are about.

I'm still waiting for my month/day wishes from TCM on C. Aubrey Smith, Raymond Massey and Kyoko Kagawa.

Kagawa was not only in the films of most the big names of 1950's Japanese cinema; Kurosawa, Mizoguchi, Naruse and Ozu, plus she was in Honda's Mothra; and the earlier generation director Inagaki, she's also in Kore-eda Hirokazu's After Life. I'd love to read any autobiography she'd ever write!

And of course she's in my avatar so it goes without saying.

Good find! What a stage presence. Ozu's darling is never a disappointment.

I was very naughty and decided to go out with a bang on the B&N sale by grabbing a few box sets that I've been eyeballing for some time now (they had all of these in stock at my local store, which surprised me):

I don't use TCM much now that a lot of their type of films are on the Criterion Channel, but I do hope they will do one for Nobuko Otowa, Jo Shishido, Hideko Takamine, and Delphine Seyrig, just to name a few of my favorites.

The cinematography in this one is flat out amazing. Type of film you can just get lost in the visuals.

One more dip in the sale pool. I picked up this set that I’ve had on my “to buy” list for a while now.

Thanks to the B&N/CRITERION Sale,
I am officially BROKE!!! LOL

Here's my "POORchase" List from the last few days...

A RAISIN IN THE SUN
DEEP COVER
THE WAR OF THE WORLDS
GHOST DOG
SYMBIOPSYCHOTAXIPLASM
CLAUDINE
PARIS IS BURNING
THE COMPLETE MONTEREY POP FESTIVAL
THE QATSI TRILOGY
MISHIMA: A LIFE IN FOUR CHAPTERS

I was carrying the Ingmar Bergman Collection around the store for like a half-hour. Then I decided to put in back on the shelf. It's BEAUTIFUL!!! to say the least. But I just couldn't financially justify buying it at that point. Especially with the other BluRays I bought.

I'm going to have to subscribe to The CRITERION channel for sure.

Bergman and the Melvin Van Peebles Collection will be my GoTos for the next sale.

I feel the bn sale is mainly only good for the boxsets
The only non boxset that didn't come from sellers on the site was amores perros from Amazon cause I had a promo code and enough credits where it was free.

The only other 2 I got at bn was wong Kar wai and the demy set

Or as someone else mentioned, you can get a Firestick. We have that on our living room TV and it plays movies from the Criterion Channel with no issues whatsoever.
Thank you for the idea; I will look into it.

Apple TV is the device. Apple TV+ is their subscription streaming service. Then there's also an Apple TV app. Not the best naming scheme. I own these things and when an article references one of them it still sometimes confuses me.

Here’s my last 2 sales haul………

I’ve just lost interest. I used to really enjoy big box set releases.
Oh, well. Hope everyone got what they wanted.

yeah sorry thats what I meant, Apple TV device. But any streaming app worth their salt these days should support DLNA streaming (so you can stream to any DLNA enabled tv).

So was everybody able to get what they wanted this sale? The Brood was the only one I wanted that I didn't get this time around. I ended up getting:

Crash
Scanners
The Life Aquatic
The Royal Tenenbaums
The Parallax View
Blow-Up
Pickup on South Street
Kiss Me Deadly
Nightmare Alley
Naked Lunch
Fast Times at Ridgemont High

Here's what I picked up over the course of the sale:

I made a nice dent upon my wish list, and now my pocket book will be taking a vacation (between this sale and a few other promotions I took advantage of, that vacation is warranted ).

I only picked up 3 titles this time around:

Ghost Dog
Deep Cover
Crash

All were must haves.

I used to spend a fortune on past sales, buying a dozen titles, if not more (maybe 2 dozen blu-rays), but that's when I was able to stack all these B&N coupons and got some releases for $14 each including taxes. Now even with a membership, I don't get 10% off anymore, so its about $22 each with taxes. Plus I've amassed so many Criterion titles (got nearly 300 now - 299 spine numbers to be precise), I'm a bit burnt out.

Here's my collection for those who want to check it out: https://www.criterion.com/collection/11738

Márta Mészáros' 1975 film Adoption has a page up on the Janus website. Glad to see that the deal with the Hungarian National Film Institute is coming to fruition.
