No, I think maybe just KANE in November, the others later.

I'm guessing this or more, depending on how extensive the KANE set is. Maybe $59.95 SRP?

I've never gone 4K, so it's not big for me, LOL.

But I'm happy for all the people that wanted it.

Unfortunately, now, it looks like the BDs will ONLY be available in 4K combo packs, which means an average Criterion will now be like 70 bucks a title or something, LOL. Their regular BDs are already 40, on average.

Anyway, glad for the people who've wanted this so bad.

All I can say is hopefully Barnes 'n Noble carries these suckers. Need that 50% to avoid going in the poor house.

That's one hell of an impressive opening slate. I haven't seen Menace II Society or The Piano yet, but both have been on my watch list forever.

Citizen Kane, A Hard Day's Night, The Red Shoes, and Mulholland Dr. are all day one preorders for me. Just thinking about what The Red Shoes will look like in 4K Dolby Vision...

Yeah, I read it again. Kane in November and the rest to follow in subsequent months.

Makes this announcement more interesting, getting ahead of the typical release schedule by upwards of five months in part in order to say that Kane isn't a one-off.

Yeah, it's slightly confusing, but it saying "the first of this slate..." makes it also seem like only 1-2 will be revealed in the November line-up.

Maybe? But they always maintained that the chief cost was packaging and not disc replication. We’ll see, I guess.

Also with Citizen Kane getting a release in November, hopefully that means Mank will also. Looks like no 4K for Netflix films, at least for now.

The subsequent phrasing, “the first of these editions and their special features will be detailed in our November 2021 announcement” makes me think it’s more than one but not all 6.

Wow, I wasn't expecting The Piano. I bought the American BD years ago but still haven't watched it; if Brazilians weren't so keen on subtitles and dubbing I could sell it and get the UHD.

All I hope is they include HDR otherwise what is the point of rebuying Mulholland Dr. in 4K SDR when Studio Canal will release an HDR transfer? Lee Kline's opinion on HDR has me worried about these 4K releases.

Hahahaha you're all welcome. I just ordered The Piano from UK and it shipped last night.

In for all of these!

Says in the announcement they will have Dolby Vision and HDR. That opinion did make me skeptical, but glad to see they're still going through with it. Guess we'll know for sure when the specs come out. Biggest wish for me though is that FiM encodes these (I know I make a big stink out of that, but I do think it's important).

Edit: says for 'select films'. So now I'm not so sure about Mulholland Dr. in particular. Have to imagine that Lynch would be the determining factor in if they (or anyone) can do an HDR transfer.

"Select films"... = not all of these titles.

100% agree. I just sat there reading that title thinking my eyes was playing tricks with me. I am so elated. I'm in for 4 of these first wave releases. Thank you Criterion.

Select films will be presented in Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos.”

Personally I don’t absolutely need to have HDR; I find it incredibly hit-and-miss, especially with pre-UHD. That’s also without even bringing up that it’s pretty much a new color-grading that’s not necessarily consistent with the theatrical release.

Will there be more titles for November? It's kind of ambiguous in the announcement..

Probably just one or two. Full announcement should come next week.
