The main Sales page has this label -- hope it is more of a smoke screen
"Save 50% on hundreds of Criterion Blu-rays and DVDs now through November 29th!

We’re sorry, international shipping is currently unavailable for this promotion."
I did a test and it lets me get as far as I can go without actually placing an order. Australia has been a lone exception to international shipping rules in the past. Not sure.

Been down the road with BN rumors too many times -- the sales going to cancelled (May/June 2020 esp), they going to stop carrying in store, the sale is only going to apply to Older items, Sale Dates changing, It's going to allow this but not that, and dozen others including flat out cancelling orders using coupon codes way back when .

Many/most of them have been just plain wrong. I'm not blaming the clerks or managers b/c I have seen some of the correspondence from district/regional/national offices when basically said it, but many things were often conflicting so waiting is just safest.

Before the July 2020 sale there was writtne note saying the Member Discount would be blocked when turned into pages of hysteria. Turned out it was wrong though later implemented for the Nov 2020 sale. Freaking out over things that haven't happened yet just doesn't help. Freaking out over 1st World problems like 50% Sale after it's a problem is still rarely useful, but at least it's a real issue.

It's like a never ending Emily Litella routine -- geez I still miss Gilda a lot speaking of real problems.

Oftentimes you just gotta question the source.

I worked in retail for a long time and we called sales items like these loss leaders to get people in the store, be it physical or online. The retailer usually sets the price and takes the biggest hit. The manufacturer gets most of their money. However, since B & N do sell a bunch of discs, they can probably dictate some of the terms since they are giving shelf space to Criterion. I doubt Criterion wants to lose B & N as an outlet as they are about the only mass retailer that gives them space in physical stores. Most of the year, B & N sells the discs at MSRP though I doubt they get too many bites at those prices. Even Criterion sells them much cheaper than B & N most of the time.

How dare you? My username is going to be a february criterion 4k release and we'll see who's eating their frosted fl4Kes in shame come february when you wake up early to snag a copy during the flash sale.

Thanks, but the decision was made for me as it seems like B&N was sold out of their Kane pre-order allotment.

But I was able to secure Once Upon A Time in China, which I wanted waymore anyway, as I already have Kane on blu, so all good!

It still carts up fine for me. Many people are reporting B&N website issues today in the sale thread though. I doubt they’re sold out.

Does B&N charge right away for pre-orders?

Will an order that contains in stock items & pre-orders not ship until everything is in stock?

Somebody else will know more definitively, but I have a temp charge for my my whole order today, including preorders.

They ship items as soon as they’re available. I already got a shipping confirmation for one of my items today.

Still holding off on getting any Chaplin because I assume there will be a box set but I might have to cave in finally. And I have no Tarkovsky, so I gotta pick one up, either Mirror or Solaris

Walked out of my local B&N tonight with these. They put me right at 3K overall in the collection. WTF?! That escalated quickly over the past couple of years!

When I went to pickup my order of DETOUR, I naturally fell victim to a couple of impulse upgrades. So, this is my first strike of the sale:

It's a shame Mona Lisa doesn't come with a poster (separate from the liner notes!!!). That thang should come with a few, based on the pictures inside.

I have my 10 purchases planned for the sale:

El Norte
Wings of Desire
Black Narcissus
Yi Yi
Wild Strawberries
The Earrings of Madame De... (PQ criticisms be damned)
Code Unknown
Mandabi
Touki Bouki
Persona

It’s weird seeing people buy individual Bergmans. That’s exactly why I got the box set, so I never have to think about Bergman again

Buy what you like, like what you buy.

Maybe I don't want The Complete Works of U2, when just The Joshua Tree will do.

I would assume you think about him when/if you watch the movies.
