Fortunately, I own the MoC Phoenix so I'll be skipping this month - unless I get the Criterion Adoption instead of the Second Run.

I want After Hours a lot as well, but man it's been years of people asking for it. I really wish they would have released that before any other Scorsese films.

Yeah. It’s def taken the mantle of “most asked about film” and it’s been that way for a loooong time now. But hopefully it will be soon.

And I’d be happy for sure. I’d love to drop the old WB DVD.

Last Waltz on UHD is absolutely lit! But Le Cercle Rouge fully depends if Criterion steps up and fixes the Studio Canal oversaturated colour grade cock up for it to be a winner, otherwise an easy pass.

Adoption and love jones being relegated to BD only releases makes absolutely no f**king sense to me at this point. I am all for Criterion to keep doing BD only releases for titles where a 2K master is the best thing available, but for films where they are working with 4K masters I can't condone them bascially just avoiding UHD releases.

Solid month. There's something for everybody.

If I'm not mistaken, UHD releases, even when a 4k master is available, are still much more expensive to produce than standard blurays. Different company, sure, but this was posed a couple days ago:

Do you really think Adoption and Love Jones would fly off the shelves at a volume great enough to justify the added expense?

A ton of his films have HD scans, so not sure what the deal is.
Yep, really puzzling and as a Kurosawa fanatic, really frustrating. I mean, couldn't we at least get Stray dogs, Red beard, The bad sleep well and Drunken angel at the very least in HD? Fans like us have been supporting Criterion for 20 years buying these Kurosawa movies and now they've just stopped?

In those 5 years they could have easily released at least 5 more Kurosawa since...
I have no evidence of this but I would think Kurosawa has got to be a 4K box set.

With 30 movies or so, that would just be insanely expensive, I doubt it. Maybe a Seven Samurai in 4k or even a Samurai 4k box set with Seven, Hidden fortress, Yojimbo and Sanjuro like they did at the beginning of the dvd area. There's no way they'd put the time and money on so many lesser know Kurosawa movies on 4k. I just wished they had at least finished the bigger titles left on blu ray first before they jumped on rereleasing again the same Kurosawa movies that have had a blu ray release already.
But I guess we'll find out in 5 years or so what their plans are. :P

The only thing that makes sense is a Kurosawa boxset. There is no other reason that is acceptable to me for them to go 5 years without a release.

I'm with you on this. It's pretty frustrating that we don't have those films on Blu-ray yet. The Bad Sleep Well is a personal favorite and the wait has been insane. Feels like something doesn't make sense.

The email doesn't provide tech specs or have a list of extras, so there is at least 1 reason right there.

Only if you're that interested in those. I've never clicked on the email. Ever.

I already own the StudioCanal 4K UHD Blu-ray of Le Cercle Rouge. It is a superb disc.

I am interested in The Flight of the Phoenix, although I'm sort of apprehensive about ordering any standard high definition Blu-rays from anybody anymore.

Definitely in for The Flight of the Phoenix. Had the MoC release on my list for years, but never got around to picking it up.

I've never see The Last Waltz. As a big fan of Scorsese I should give it a go some time...even though the music is not really my cup of tea.

It’s a Fox title so I am skeptical that it’ll ever get a 4K release if Criterion aren’t doing it themselves, plus if you’ve never seen the film, trust me it’s worth owning.
