I picked up Tampopo. Will arrive on Thursday. Will give a review on my YouTube channel next week, after I review Fried Barry and The Taisho Trilogy. Man, I have so many films to watch!

Is there a way to sign up to the Channel from outside the US? I tried a couple of proxy sites but the signup page wouldn't load, it was just blank.

According to a reddit user:

Quote:
You only need a VPN trial (Tunnelbear) to get into the sign-up page and use a credit card with a US address. After that, you can just use a regular internet connection to access your account and stream content.

In the latest DGA podcast episode between Sean Baker and Lizzie Borden, Sean Baker announced that his first three films ('Four Letter Words', 'Take Out', 'Prince of Broadway') have been restored and will be released next year on a “nice, prestigious label” that Borden had recently worked with. I'm assuming that he is referring to Criterion as the last Lizzie Borden title that was released on blu to my knowledge was Criterion's 'Working Girls'. This was also semi-verified by a redditor who listened to the latest podcast episode of 'The Movies That Made Me' with Mark Duplass, as he mentions that Criterion is going to release 'Prince of Broadway'.

Someone in the Kino thread mentioned that Sean Baker had said that Kino had restored at least one of his early movies.

Just found this article from 2 days ago where Sean Baker outright says that Criterion will be releasing them:

Quote:
Sean Baker: Oh, cool, man. Thank you! It's great to see you again. Those early films are being restored by the way.

Interviewer: That’s what I’ve heard!

Baker: By Criterion next year.

Nice! I've only seen The Florida Project, and Red Rocket from him, and I really enjoyed both. Red Rocket was a pretty crazy, and entertaining film.

This was the post in the Kino thread. It was presumed to be Kino since he apparently tagged them with at least one of the films.

Four Letter Words (2000)
Take Out (2004)
Prince of Broadway (2008)

He didn't explicitly state Kino for all 3 films but he'd previously tagged them in a post announcing the Take Out resto, so it's safe to assume Kino will be handling all of them.

I'd love for Criterion to get Joyeux Noel, which still doesn't have a US Blu-ray. What an astonishing story/film.

Got signed up for the Channel, working on putting together my 300+ film watchlist...

How good are they with things expiring? I don't understand why streaming services don't send you an alert when something on your list is expiring. Some do give an expiration date the entire time a thing is available, others you have to click on it every week or so to make sure it's not going to expire at the end of said week...so how easy is it to keep track of that? My watchlist is obviously massive....
