Bringing Walker back in print is great news, it was a DVD I'd considered a few times on eBay so I'm glad I held out. Generally a pretty interesting selection but I'm a bit disappointed the For All Mankind is the only 4k this month, it's not one I'd rush to upgrade.

I am elated to get this 'Round Midnight release! And Walker too - didn't expect that.

Just wanted to remark upon your ability to say "this year's output hasn't been of much interest to me" when we were only 3 months in announcement-wise, and one of the announced titles (Written on the Wind) is literally among the 10 in the wishlist in your signature! Not saying "shut up and feel grateful", just feel jealous if you usually do better than this because I feel like if I made my own 10-most-wanted, I'd be lucky to get one a year. That said, I really hope Criterion does pick up the pace on releasing what you want, especially Midnight (1939)!

lucky I'm not into UHD yet so I'm skipping the For All Mankind upgrade but are they doing this now? Every month has a UHD? They've not fully upgraded their back catalog which is slightly annoying. I want Floating Weeds on Blu-ray now not later.

Floating Weeds is my most wanted title, but I would be slightly disappointed if it weren't a 4K / BD release at this point (again, completely depends on whether they could actually get 4K rights). Not every month has had a UHD so far.

Seriously, the nerve of Criterion to release things in the format they’ve begun releasing things in.

Very happy for Girl Can't Help It, and it seems noteworthy that this is a 20th Century Fox film?

They've been releasing Fox titles for some time since Disney acquired them. These are all titles Criterion swooped up before that acquisition though.

The Girl Can’t Help It is day one for me. I didn’t think it would ever get a Blu Ray release.

Walker is a surprise. I thought someone around here had reached out to Criterion about it getting a blu upgrade, and they had replied that it wasn't something they were interested in. Glad to see they changed their minds. Definitely in for De Sica as well.

Fingers crossed they scooped up some John Ford Fox titles.

I'm ever hopeful that they scooped up LITTLE MURDERS, too. That seems right up their alley and I'll be bummed if it never gets a domestic release because of that #$%@#in' Mouse.

I wonder how new the transfer for this will be. It doesn’t say new 2K or 4K restoration which indicates an older master. I read elsewhere on these forums that Twilight Time passed on this one several years back because the existing HD master wasn’t good enough.

It just seems like it now but a single Blu-ray is slightly cheaper than the combo and I may never go UHD though but if its on that then I may have to get it into it.

You can see some cropped screenshots on the product page. It looks pretty good to me. It leans more teal/blue now though, like many other Fox classics that were restored around the same time. Not as bad as others though for sure. Still has clean whites, and nice fleshtones.

Wow, six titles this month! I’m over the moon for The Girl Can’t Help It. I’m also going to make a rare exception to my English-language only rule for Round Midnight as I’m a big Dexter Gordon fan.

Speaking of Fox, I’m still hopeful that Criterion will release Call Northside 777.
