The WALKER upgrade is the big one for me in this batch. Definite buy. Curious about that new Nigerian film that I've not heard of.

And another one off the list!

Round Midnight
The Roaring Twenties
The Philadelphia Story
Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid
O Lucky Man
Lone Star
Hedwig & The Angry Inch
Captain Blood
Bringing Up Baby
Arsenic and Old Lace

also...

Mean Streets
Barry Lyndon

The fact that these were listed as OOP in the same time as some of the titles licensed to CC, led me to believe that, perhaps, I'm on something here, and that this is not merely a coincidence. We shall see...

I remember reading something on here like this too. Someone had maybe stated that Cox himself was asked about it and replied that Criterion wasn't interested in upgrading. I had stopped hoping for it.

I’m hoping Criterion also picked up The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit.

Incredible month! Tashlin! Nigerian cinema! Tavernier’s jazz landmark! De Sica! Walker upgrade at long last! 4K NASA + Brian Eno! I’m in for all.

Me too. It's a great movie and it has a 4K restoration already completed. I believe the Criterion Channel did indeed stream this new restoration, which could be a good sign. Another 4K Fox restoration is Five Fingers, but when it streamed on CC, it was an older master.

Yup, I think you are correct about that. Very happy they reversed their decision.

Since Duke isn't here at the moment, allow me to comment in his place.

"Another month, and still no Cure? What is going on Criterion? Every month I look forward to seeing it announced, and every time I have my day completely ruined."

And now a visualization of how he feels.

Oh, technically we got a Scorsese movie, since he appears in Round Midnight.

More Tashlin on BD is always welcome - and “The Girl Can’t Help It” is one of my favorites. I also love that cover.

And with the De Sica and Tavernier, I’d say it’s a pretty strong month for me.

Yes, he plays a fast talking talent agent guy. He's in three scenes, if memory serves.

I have the film on DVD, and have never watched it but once long ago and remember little about it. I do remember it being quite slow.

Not sure if I'll get the BD, right now.

Ditto for "Walker" and "For All Mankind", both of which I have on Criterion DVDs.

Don't know much about the new film.

I'm likely in for the De Sica and "Girl Can't Help It", but neither is a priority.

So, again, not the most exciting month for me.

Happy for others.

For such a musical month, Amadeus should’ve been announced, unless they don’t have it.

The Girl Can’t Help It is day one purchase

All the reasons this will never happen have been discussed here a ton. No company has ever claimed to be doing that. Also see: WAC DVDs.

great month. I was hoping for Niagara, maybe that was one of the fox titles they got since it's currently on the Criterion Channel.

also hoping for Cure and Chess of the Wind. I'm sure those will be along soon enough.

I watched one of my favorites, The Samurai Trilogy, last night. Does anyone here know why Sachio Sakai replaced Rentarō Mikuni in the role of Honiden Matahachi? Obviously, these things happen. But that's one part of the series I did not enjoy.
