Did the rights just get renewed this year maybe, and so Criterion had to put 20th Century Studios instead of 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment? If they truly did license from Disney however, then that's pretty huge, especially with how many they're coming out with already this year.
For what it's worth, Claudine also has a "20th Century Studios" logo, but the copyright says "Renewed 2002 By Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment" and not 20th Century Studios.

I've seen some speculation that they may have a deal with Disney with some Fox films (with that, plus the steady stream of Fox films on the Criterion Channel seemingly each month and U.K. releases of Fox films), but there's nothing to confirm they can, although at the same time there's nothing to confirm they can't.

Criterion Upcoming Criterion Flash Sale

Hello Fellow Criterion Collection Cinephiles,
I was thinking that it was about that time of the year to post the potential dates of this year's Criterion (Late Winter) Flash Sale. I have made purchases from this sale since 2015, so I have all the dates of the last seven sales, and they were:

FEBRUARY 23, 2021
FEBRUARY 25, 2020
MARCH 5, 2019
FEBRUARY 13, 2018
FEBRUARY 28, 2017
FEBRUARY 23, 2016
MARCH 10, 2015

All of these flash sales occurred on a Tuesday, although never as early as today's date. According to my records, the earliest it has ever been was February 13th four years ago. According to those same records, the latest it has ever been was March 10th seven years ago. Additionally, the date usually corresponds with a new release. With this evidence in mind, I have narrowed down the possible dates of the sale, along with the movies being released that day, and they are:

FEBRUARY 8, 2022 (Miller's Crossing)
FEBRUARY 15, 2022 (Love Affair)
FEBRUARY 22, 2022 (Boat People)
MARCH 1, 2022 (no release on this date)
MARCH 8, 2022 (Adoption)
MARCH 15, 2022 (Le cercle rouge)

Originally, I was thinking that it might be March 1st, but there is no release on that date. Boat People and Adoption are not as "mainstrean" as the other releases, so I have my reservations regarding February 22nd or March 8th. Additionally, Le cercle rouge is a re-release, so March 15th would be the last date that I would dismiss. My hunch is that it may be next Tuesday. It will be the day after Valentine's Day and Love Affair is the release on that day.

I am interested in hearing what other think, or perhaps, know.

Best wishes,
mrjohnnybrown

If my math is right, February 26th is the average date. But Tuesday falls three days later. So February 29th. The next leap year is in 2024, so you'll have to wait until then unfortunately.

My guess is the sale won't be until the corrected Hard Day's Night UHD/Blu is in stock.

Now to get started on doing the math for the "half-off" stuff.

Left half this time.

It's the early part of an even numbered year.

They probably re-registered or renewed the copyright this year under their new name. Claudine's 2002 Fox date is clearly from a renewal.

To me, it seems they've definitely opened the door on some Fox titles. We'll have to keep our eyes peeled.

If televisions put on ten pounds, laser projectors put on twenty pounds.

It's because the copyright is still owned by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment (whose properties are now owned by Disney). The reason the logo is 20th Century Studios is behind Criterion acquired the license from them (I suppose it's own subsidiary under Disney).

One of my favorite Criterion releases is The Red Shoes. I own the Blu-Ray and have been considering the new 4K UHD release. But after watching the below video on YouTube I am seriously wondering whether the upgrade would be worth it. The video shows very little, if any, difference between the two. And, for the record, I am watching this YouTube video on my Sony A80J 65" OLED.

So, who here has seen the new 4K release? Is this YouTube video accurate? Or does the 4K release look much better than the Blu-Ray?
