Yeah, baby. Sale order, first Criterion store order in almost two years!

Filling in the gaps in my Hitchcock, Chaplin, Keaton, Kazan, Tsui Hark libraries...one of the last Criterion essential box sets I want, and a couple of "unbelievably I've never seen but I know I want" titles...

Ford's The Informer, if it must be Irish themed.
I watched it on TCM last night. Overall the image was pretty nice but there were a lot of scratches that needed to be addressed.

Tonight, in the Man Cave, I watched another recent purchase. I’ve seen this before, but my first and only viewing was November 12, 2016. I’ve been meaning to buy it, but with each sale I’d grab other stuff. This last sale I finally got it.

Fassbinder died 40 years ago come June.

Maybe a Fassbinder boxset or at least a title announced (haven't had one in a while).

My order was delivered this afternoon and I've gotta say, I'm VERY disappointed in the way this was packaged. I ordered nine titles and they threw them all loose into a box. No padding, nothing. 4 of them were digipacks. They weren't even stacked evenly, they were all toppled over one another and my copies of Uncut Gems and The Magnificent Ambersons were badly damaged. The front of Uncut Gems looks like someone took something pointed and scribbled it across the front (like they were trying to get a sticker off or something), in addition to there being a massive crease across the front cover, and Magnificent Ambersons has all its corners crushed. The ones in plastic cases came fine (and Repo Man and Hard Day's Night somehow survived unscathed) but considering I spent $200 on this order, it was packaged like it came from Amazon. Extremely disappointing coming from Criterion. I'm gonna shoot them an email about the two damaged titles. They're usually pretty good at this sort of stuff. I just hope I don't have to pay customs all over again for my replaced titles.

I have the original Arrow set.

I also have every Fassbinder dvd ever released.

Even some VHS and a Beta.

Doesn't stop me from hoping for a Criterion release. Whether it be a 4K release of any of his films, a release of something Arrrow doesn't have (Martha, Querelle, Third Generation), or a bigger, better box set.

I'm sure you guys are right, but I hope that the Tales of Hoffman photo is just a nod to P&P and that we're going to get A Canterbury Tale or I Know Where I'm Going. I have never seen ToH, but I'm betting that I'm neither smart nor patient enough to appreciate it.

In my opinion, it's not as accessible as a movie like The Red Shoes but certainly worth seeing if you like Moira Shearer.

It is a good sign Criterion sees P&P movies as UHD worthy. Keep 'em coming.

I'd love for I Know Where I'm Going to get a blu ray announcement. That's a really nice movie.

Those two are probably my most wanted - ACT is my favourite film.

It would also be nice to get Peeping Tom, even if there is already a region B release. Why hasn’t there been a blu-ray of it in NA anyway? Rights issues?

Yeah. Studiocanal pulled back the rights from Criterion years ago, but never released it themselves (via Lionsgate). I'm pretty sure Kino indirectly confirmed that Criterion got back Peeping Tom, and Tales of Hoffman for that matter, so it's only a matter of time.

Until Criterion's rights expire and another label releases it?
