If true let's hope its animation (yes, I know that isn't a "genre" in itself). It's the one area of Criterion that I find lacking.

What if that pasta dude was the Discfather all along?

In all seriousness though, Criterion has pretty much covered all genres including family movies. I can hardly think of anything "unexpected" unless they're planning on giving Vinegar Syndrome a run for their money.

I don't ever have much to contribute to this thread but I just finished doing some collection reorganization and decided to make my own little "Criterion corner" and wanted to share.

So much to love here, but my favorite part is the "Barnes & Noble" look. How, every 10-20 titles, you face one out. If I only had enough shelf space to steal that move!

Thanks! I don't know how long I can keep them displayed this way as I'm basically at max capacity and so many films that I still have to grab.

Nah, I do have a few multiples but if I happen to acquire a second copy or a newer edition is released, I try to share with friends and/or family. There are a few that I don't want to part with though like the older Amarcord blu-ray as I love the art.

I held on to my Amarcord for the same reason even though I bought the Fellini set. Godzilla too.

Amazing collection. That's more like the Criterion Closet than a corner. Loving the love for Kieslowski's 3 colours too.

Looks like a re-release of the Jacques Demy set coming on August 2nd. I just spotted this Amazon placeholder listing:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B5F6MG2T...es-tv&sr=1-421

It's listed as 6 discs, so it will be dropping the 7 DVD's, and I imagine will look identical to the slimmed down UK set:

I'd imagine the half off version is even slimmer.

not much point for me to rush. 2 of the 4 local b&n’s near me have consolidated their stock into like one small section on a bookshelf space and the other 2 of them don’t carry movies at all

sad because they had a really large section until the beginning of the year. i’ll just go when i have the chance

Beaver's take on Summertime:

http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/DVDRev...summertime.htm

No discussion on the AR controversy. I've only ever seen it in Academy ratio, on the JDM release. Always looked good to me - not that it is necessarily correct.

Thank you! I know it is considered a flawed release with the framing issues but Three Colors is probably my favorite Criterion release (Blue is a profoundly evocative film) and I hope the rumors of a 4K set on the way prove to be fruitful. Kieslowski was a genius.
