If the HD image looks at least as good as the 2020 Spanish blu ray (without English subs), consider me interested.

Question:

Are the corrected versions of Citizen Kane UHD and A Hard Day's Night UHD out in stores yet?

If I get them at B&N, will I get the new versions?

Or will I still need to mail in for replacements?

Ooh, may have to remember that this weekend.

Ordered "Pink Flamingos" and "The Worst Person in the World" on the site last night (the better part was I ordered the DVD for "Worst Person..." and they gave me the Blu for it (at the DVD price) when I went to pick up the order) and grabbed "Deep Cover" in store.

Answering my own question - found plenty of copies of both at B&N, all were corrected, all noted by a sticker over the UPC with a new UPC.

Tried to order movies that likely wouldn't make it to 4K anytime soon (Criterion has shown so little love to Japanese cinema the last few years). But who knows?

I've watched the first two before.

You got lucky, they aren’t supposed to honor it. I tried last night and two employees wouldn’t budge. The coupon terms exclude sale and clearance items, including items 50% off, which include Criterions.

Anybody know what the deal with Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! is? It's available on the B&N site but not 50% off (it's listed for the full $39.99). Amazon is out of stock, and on criterion's website it's currently unavailable.

Wasn’t that a dual-format release? Maybe they’re just now doing a blu-ray only version? Those sound like the symptoms of switching versions format editions in the past.

As usual, I want to mix my B&N order between some films I've seen before and some blind buys. This time, I'm interested in Howard Hawks' Only Angels Have Wings to blind-buy. What's your opinion on the film?

Howard Hawks was a man for all seasons. He did quality work in every genre he dabbled in, and OAHW is one of his top films altogether.
It's a modest drama/adventure with a terrific cast.

I've been meaning to fish mine out of storage and give it a watch. Should do that tonight.

I only picked up "Come and See" from Amazon. I'm too worried movies will be re-issued in 4K immediately after I buy them!

It's been nearly a year since Criterion announced their first 4K release. Since then, they've announced a total of 18. Of those, only 7 are upgrades from previous Criterion BDs. This shouldn't inhibit your current interests.
