Anyone knows if this 50% off sale is available ANYWHERE else? I just assumed it'd be like that on Zavvi UK or something, but considering Barnes and Noble doesn't deliver overseas....

I'm thinking of buying Ingmar Bergman's Film Collection -great deal for 39 films at $150 at B&N.

I want to improve my film knowledge but this would be a blind buy - just bought Fellini's set as well.

Just looking for some input. THX

You could always use a reshipper like Stackry if you want to partake from B&N or you can check Amazon USA, they mirror the B&N sale prices and ship overseas.

For me, the Fellini set was more accessible (and shorter, obviously). I got bogged down in Bergman just before Persona (which I've seen before and wasn't impressed by), so I still have some Bergman films to watch, if I ever do. Maybe when it's winter again and gets dark early.

I'm glad I bought the sets, but mostly they'll just sit on the shelf. I know I'll watch Seventh Seal again and again, and Sawdust and Tinsel, and Satyricon and La Strada and some others.

I constrast this to the Godzilla set. I own and love the original Godzilla, so I thought I'd look at the other Godzilla films. What utter crap. I disposed of that set but kept the original single film.

Rosemary's Baby and some other Paramount titles were pulled from Criterion's collection last year and Paramount re-released them themselves.
I believe The Third Man is with Lionsgate (The studio's oldest movie on UHD is Halloween (1978) ). Maybe a deal can be reached (or has been reached?).

We are about a week or so away from the moment of truth. Will Cure be released in October in time for Halloween or not? Been waiting on this one for awhile.

Cure is coming two months ago, per fettucine. Dunno why people keep asking for it when it's already been released.

Fettuccine was wrong, it got released in January, seemed weird I’m the only one with a copy.

Does anyone know if the Criterion Blu-ray case artwork will fit into the three-disc Scanavo cases? Or will it fit into the two-disc cases?

I think I read the single and two-disc cases are 14mm while the three-disc ones are 17mm. But I want to see if anyone has tried that recently.

The 3 disc Scanavo's are definitely 17mm, while the 1-2 disc cases are 14mm. Any artwork sleeves for the 14mm cases will easily fit in the 17mm. The sleeves for the 17mm, however, may be cut too long to fit into a 14mm case. That being said, you can always trim the sleeves. I do this all the time to ensure a films title is always centered along the spine. It's one of my many anal retentive tendencies with my collection

Ok so you're exactly the kind of person I was asking this question to.

I remember playing with some covers and cases before I sold them, but I cannot remember exactly how they fit. I remember using some of the Dual Format cases/covers and the Brazil 3-disc release.

If I move the standard covers into a 17mm case, will the edges on the front and back covers look weird? Will the spine be too wide? Because if so, I think perhaps I should just buy a 2-Disc case and stack the original Criterion over or under one of the 4K Kino discs instead (I think that's how I have Parasite configured- but that's a cardboard digipack).

Could you do that test for me if possible (the spine and edges test)? I no longer have any Scanavo Criterion cases that are 3-Disc or more so I can't check it myself.

Roller you could also try to get a plastic disc hub with an adhesive back and put that in the case on the booklet side, it *should* fit. I did that with my parasite 4K to avoid a stacked disc.

cool, appreciate it. i have some credit on their site and i think my next big criterion haul will be during that sale.

currently watching flowers of shanghai. haven't watched this in a long time, but it's very soothing. however, the criterion release looks kinda crappy to my eyes. lots of artifacts. shame because the natural lighting in this film is amazing

Putting the 14mm sleeves into the 17mm cases worked fine on the couple I tried. The Criterion artwork "template" that is used on every sleeve is a little longer for those used in the 17mm because of the wider spine, but I didn't really see any issues. Just get the spine centered and you should be fine. The front and back edges are negligible. We are only talking a millimeter. Unless your anal retentiveness exceeds mine!

We still need Rohmer's A Summer's Tale on Blu! Bring on the Four Seasons box set. I would love some Christophe Honore films too. Love Songs and Sorry Angel both need blu-ray releases. And of course, I won't stop clamoring for Beautiful Thing, which recently got a French BD but I suspect it has forced subs.
