Thats a bummer. I think it comes out 12/13 so if it runs through 12/4 it will just miss it. Oh well there are quite a few other CCs I want so its still worth it lol

Lost Highway blu arrived...scratched! What a shock. Their frequent scratched discs really takes away the class of the regular package. Returned it will be, I’ll keep the Kino disc.

was the scratch on the 4k or bluray?

I heard the 4k replicators are having some serious QC issues...3D film archive owners said they won't consider releasing any 4k releases until this is resolved.

Just wondering if this is all related?

The practice of giving away product to people who could buy the entire catalog without batting an eye would be one way of reducing loss. I couldn't care less who visits the closet. I care about them listening to their customers' concerns about QC, and releasing movies their long-time, dedicated, die-hard fans have been vocal about wanting. I have my eye on a couple November releases, and if I end up following through on buying them, they'll still only be my 2nd and 3rd CC purchases this year.

In the old days I would sometimes see future thing discounted if I stayed up late enough for the prices to start turning on the BN site. Cool times

There is no correlation between the people who visit their office and the QC from the Mexican production plant, so this point of comparison is just bizarre.

Like all good companies, I'm fairly certain Criterion will have a promotions budget that the cost of those discs falls into (which would be far less than what you or I would pay for them). And while you may not care about who visits the closet, many people do and Criterion are banking on those endorsements to general sales.

As the good book says: don't hide your light under a bushel. Let it shine blisteringly bright so it pisses everybody off.

It’s the Blu-Ray ( I don’t own 4k). Criterion seems to have the highest rate of scratches..and I don’t even own many compared to other companies.

I never said the two were related. I'm saying they should focus on QC - which would prevent returned items AND they should stop giving away free shit. Two things that could lower their costs.

So Barry Jenkins, Guillermo Del Toro, Cate Blanchet et al visiting the Criterion closet influences your buying? Okay.

I'll venture to say if someone is watching an entire CC closet video then that person is either a) Very familiar with Criterion or b) watching the video because of the celeb(s) appearing in it. I believe the videos help a small amount but maybe more so with someone that's never heard of Criterion but is watching the video because a celeb like Cate Blanchett is in it. It's not at the level of MARTIN SCORSESE's World Cinema vol# influence-wise but it can't hurt.
