Final Barnes and Noble haul:

World of Wong Kar Wai Blu-ray set.

Tested each disc on my Xbox One X and only As Tears Go By was okay. All the other discs had skipping issues and visual artifacts.

Already sent an email to Criterion for the discs replacements. How long does it take to receive them?

You will probably get more for the OOP titles. But keep in mind, just because an item is listed for $200, doesn't mean it sells. Trading on here might be a better option, but I have no experience with that. Either way, good luck to you!
I was mainly looking at prices of items that actually did sell, using ~$15 as a baseline for typical non-OOP single films in my estimate. That total figure was a very conservative estimate. Like I said, I wouldn't actually expect to get anywhere near $3,500. Not really looking at trading as I've been out of the Blu-Ray game for ages now. Chances are, I'll try just breaking the collection up into many small lots and try selling that way.

The trading forum allows you to trade things for money, not just other things.

Yes, in this case it sounds like the LDs are more of a novelty item in a very niche market. The question is, do you actually still play them on your Laserdisc player even though the video quality is inferior (or in some cases comparable) to that of even DVDs.

Perhaps I'm referring to Criterion DVD sales? Does the average collector even buy Criterion DVDs anymore? I'm guessing this might be the case for titles that are not available on blu-ray, but as for libraries and educational institutions, they're not even ordering them anymore because everything is digital now.

Right. In less than 2 weeks I'm moving back to the USA so I am excited about accessing my entire blu-ray library again! After 1 year away from your Criterions, I'll tell you something, you really appreciate them A LOT MORE!

$15 plus shipping seems like a pretty standard price for a second hand non-OOP Criterion blu-ray that's in good condition. Over the years, I've gotten anywhere from $12 to about $17 + shipping.

Oddly, I've gotten less than expected for some OOPs. I only got about $53 + shipping for my Le Cercle Rouge blu ray in late 2020 when it was generally going for around $80.

Rarely, but occasionally I watch parts of an item or esp watch a Supplement or listen to a commentary.

Every few months I try to run my players a few turn just to keep the parts at least somewhat 'in use' and let the lubricant spread a bit to the belts/cogs. I need to do the next culling of discs of non specialty items that have been released now.
I'll keep the specialty/Deluxe set just because -- Deluxe Boxset, Disney Boxsets, Universal Sign and Pioneer , DTS and Criterions, SOTS, Star Wars sets.
I think I still around 50-100 that I'd get rid of if there were legit replacements

I'd pay for a version where they redo Daniel Craig's accent. Every time he opened his mouth in Knives Out, I felt like my ears were getting stabbed with a million of them.

I just finished watching Bergman Island.

To be honest, I'm a big fan of Tim Roth and I liked the acting in this film. Although I was a bit disoriented by the ending and the "movie within a movie" gimmick they used in the story. It was almost a "movie within a movie within a movie" in the bigger context that they filmed on location on Faro Island where Bergman shot his own films.

So overall, good but not great.

I probably won't purchase this on blu-ray because I can't see myself revisiting this film more than once or twice. I think Mia Wasikowska was the highlight in this film though.

Oh, thank the lord. That ugly old DVD was in desperate need of an upgrade. Now, for all the other ugly old DVDs in the Criterion Collection that need an upgrade...

One of the characters in the film uses a Janus Films mug, apparently.

The Long Good Friday has been hinted at by Janus Films a few months back. Never seen the 2K restoration so I'm very excited to see this one come back

Hopefully this is announced next month, or at the latest in January for an April 4th release date since Good Friday falls on April 7th next year.

Just finished watching the 3 hour masterpiece Drive My Car.

I'm still at a loss for words.

Probably one of the best Murakami adaptations put to screen.

However, the film tested my patience in the first half.

The second half was where things really unfolded and connected for me.

It's a brilliant film about the human condition.

Yet, it's still in my opinion an acquired taste. Not everyone who sees this film may consider it a four star film I like do. But I think this is a four star film.

Above all its a meditation and a very effective one.

I could see myself watching this one again but not too many times.

I'm glad this film is in the Criterion Collection.
