I know there is a list of defective Bluray's a few years back and it's not on that list. However went to watch it and none of my players read it anymore.

Anyway as long as we are hoping for stuff. Barry Lyndon 4K!
It's not on the list but Criterion will replace it. I had my copy replaced several years ago.

A few years ago my BD copy of The Lady Vanishes froze around the 80m mark, right where the layer transition would occur and had it replaced. So yes, I think others with an older copy of this film should start checking their discs.

This is hilarious, I work on film sets and sometimes rock my Criterion and Janus mugs. I've been waiting (forever!) for someone to notice. Well, someone besides that one prop guy who turned out to be a film buff too.

Has anyone here had any issues with Criterion replacing 4k discs that freeze in spots?

My copy of Le Cercle Rouge freezes right at the end of the movie...which really sucks.

I found that the resolution really jumped off the screen during the scene where Denzel Washington is
[Show spoiler]banging Lisa Nicole Carson.

I watched the scene at least 20 times in a row during 20 minute period.

...I really studied the bitrate carefully.

I did the same thing with Phoebe Cates in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Her bitrates looked great!

Yes, my copy of Blow Out froze at around the 47 minute mark, and I was able to get a replacement.

Yes, the 4K restoration is done by Janus and Pathe, they’re going to roll out a theatrical rerelease and then the 4K

You might want to hold onto it cause we don’t know if the 4K will be better or not. They can always botch it some how with bizarre color grading or DNR.

The current disc has bizarre colour grading so I don't see how it would be worse

Makes sense, I didn't like the new grade on Le Cercle Rouge 4k. I got it for $14 so no harm in keeping it.

AFAIK all this is based on one anonymous forum poster's say-so, if you're looking for additional reasons to hold on to the current disc.

Not to mention, wasn't there already a newer restoration done and Criterion decided it was so bad they'd just use the DVD master for their Blu-ray release?
