what's odd is Yojimbo and whatever comes with it is $37.99 on blu, but $38.99 on dvd
and same goes for Seven Samurai, a few bucks cheaper on blu than dvd

not all Criterions are around $25, but the 10-15 i could remember the names of were.
Criterion sale through da 23rd.

And as far as I'm concerned...as good as the first two are, the best gags and INSANE stunts are a big part of Sherlock Jr.

Knife In the Water is still $35.99, and that's the only one I'm really interested in right now.

For all that I loved the wonderful imagery and cinematography in The Thin Red Line, I still don't think I really enjoyed the movie itself at all.

Hey CC...gotta ask...and DON'T tell me to Google it, cuz I tried that already!

What is the origin of your latest signature? Knowing you of late, I'll bet it's from a Bergman film and could even be from Sawdust and Tinsel.

Am I even close?

I ended up finding a separate shelf for my Criterion blu's, ran out of space on my two other shelves.

You are exactly correct, sir. I'm trying to determine the origin of it, though. I posted on criterionforum.org because I figured there were some people over there that know a good bit about Bergman, but no one responded to me. The line is recited in a play by a character in "Sawdust And Tinsel," but I don't know if Bergman wrote the lines for the play in the film or if the dialogue comes from another play I don't know about.

Here is the dialogue spoken in the film...

Quote:
In truth I am but a poor jester in this farce of dark shadows. Her deceitful heart, her frailty, even her taunting indifference, turn my world upside down every day and every hour. I ask myself, "Art thou Count Badrincourt of Chamballe, or the most miserable of wretches?" Therefore, dagger, leap from thy hiding place and find a place where thou canst slake thy thirst. How gladly I greet thee, sweet mistress, and press thee to my breast. Let us celebrate our night of love here in this quiet part, where first my cruel goddess did grant me her favor. [stabs himself with dagger] Farewell, O world. Farewell, my sovereign lady. May thy tears water my poor grave. I die...

I think it's sad that people who are all about the Criterions will never see the genius of Buster Keaton.

If someone doesn't watch a film because Criterion didn't release it, they are beyond saving.

Scorsese's best, IMO, along with Taxi Driver. I just hope when (if?) Criterion ports it over to blu that they fix the error on their DVD version. There's a line of dialogue missing - although you clearly see (I think) Harvey Keitel's lips move, the dialogue is gone, but it was there on previous home video editions of the film.

Cool...thanks for the heads up! Occasionally, I get lucky!

Well...if the Gods of snailmail are with me (didn't hear from my wife), then I should be settling down tonight to watch Sawdust and Tinsel. I'll let you know what I think.

I've got Cries and Whispers up next, so I should hopefully get that for Saturday.

Thanks again for the suggestions!
