Thanks Joe! I'm hoping to have Tokyo Story by Christmas as well.

Amazon screwed up some of my orders lately and I have Prime membership with them. Some of my orders weren't delivered in a timely manner and was not getting the service that I paid for. So with the promos that they gave me since Criterion movies are so expensive and barely goes on sale it's only right that I applied it to this movie. I was also able to get Seven Samurai, Yojimbo/Sanjuro and The Thin Red Line for $71.49 with all promos combined. All in all for all four movies I've spent $91.48.

Ahh thank you for the heads up but unfortunately I don't have a region free player. I'm gonna be upgrading or modifying soon though, since there is no domestic release of that, Room in Rome, and Sin Nombre.

Awesome. What a way to spend our promos (Criterion). It's so worth it.

I believe this was one of the titles Studio Canal took back from Criterion (the DVD is OOP), so it's possible Studio Canal will release a BD.

Room in Rome is available on Comcast's On Demand service (along with Enter the Void), so there might be a region A release in the not-too-distant future. I picked up the region B release and enjoyed watching it. It reminded me of Before Sunrise, but with more of an European arthouse vibe, and with two gorgeous naked chicks instead of Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy. Also, the camera never leaves the inside of one hotel room, which might try the patience of some viewers (I watched Breathless with a friend who thought the scene with the couple in the one room dragged on too long -- this does that for the entire film).

I own that Sherwood player you speak of. I was disappointed that it wouldn't play the new BD of Peeping Tom without skipping (it might need a firmware update, which I won't do since the update removes the region-free capability), but it's the only region B title it's had a problem with so far.

I also have the Sherwood 5004. I only use it when watching region B films though. I had no idea that the firmware update would remove the region free, thanks a lot for the heads up!

All 2010 releases are now out, so here's my end of the year picture.
I ended up finding a separate shelf for my Criterion blu's, ran out of space on my two other shelves.

Yeah, it's handy for playing PAL extras too (some region-free imports from smaller labels will have PAL extras). There are a number of great films now that only available on BD in region B (for the time being) like Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway, Belle de Jour, The Young Girls of Rochefort, and Dogtooth.

I've seen Room in Rome five times and it's a gorgeous, moving film. Inevitably, it's compared to Before Sunrise/Sunset, although it's essentially a remake of En La Cama. The comparison to Sunrise/Sunset is a very poor one though, imo, in that the similarity is only due to it being one nite that the two individuals get to spend together. Sunrise/Sunset offers no real insight into the characters and at least for me, is not emotionally engaging at all. Room in Rome I found to be an extremely moving film, with Elena Anaya's performance to be one of the most vulnerable and authentic I've seen in quite some time.

I like Breathless quite a bit but the scene in the room in that movie and the scene (or entire film I should say) in Room in Rome are completely different. In Breathless, there's some characterization going on in that scene but it's subtle. Room in Rome is all about the characterization.

Just because it's on comcast on demand doesn't mean it will get a domestic release. Sin Nombre still doesn't have a domestic release despite being the Sundance darling of last year and being available on demand. Let's just cross our fingers
