I was worried when I saw Eclair's involvement, but the colors look pretty good to me in that trailer. I have no idea how accurate it is to it's original presentation though.

I heard Rushmore is in 4K on Disney Plus internationally, so you might be on to something.

Having the DP involved helps. Most are not revisionist. That trailer looks beautiful.

It’s makes one wonder if Criterion bases their immediate curation decisions on such imperfect events as Oscar results—but they are business, so maybe?

It also makes one wonder how mapped out and fixed Criterion’s slate is, internally-speaking. A year? More than, less than? Are they agile enough to frequently shift titles around (for reasons other than production delays)?

I’m looking forward to an oral history of boutique label inner-workings someday—in a decade or two.

(And can’t wait for the Yeohs to be released regardless of methodology!)

I agree.

I never saw this in the theater back in the day, but nothing in that trailer looks like anything you wouldn't have seen in that era.

Looks glorious to me.

This may now be my top dream release.
Every time Kino would shoot down my request, I'd just file it away in the back of my mind as "...someday".
Now that I know it's been fully prepped, the wait for the inevitable physical release is going to be a mix of giddy anticipation and impatient frustration.

Wait for Svet’s review; he’ll set us straight.

Nothing in the wind. I did post a few days ago my guesses.

I thought Feb 14 might be a good possibility with Romeo and Juliet coming out and the sale has happened twice on/near Valentines. OTOH, nobody has gotten any of those $10 promo Codes which seem to go out before most of the recent sales. Last year several folks got those promo codes starting the week before the sale

Dazed and Confused 4K is due on 2/21, but the sale has never happened on 3rd Tues so always the best bet

4th Tuesday (28th) has been by far the most common day for the Q1 sale over the years.

Last year was March 8. Mildred Pierce 4K is scheduled for 3/7 this year so it's not unreasonable.

Latest sale was 3/10 so seem unlikely it would go later unless they really want to move it to mid April and catch several of those high value releases (Inland Empire, Fisher King, and Seventh Seal 4ks)

Aren't both owned by Disney? They might get 4k HDR masters, but tied to the streaming platform. Physical disc release, who knows?

Has been since they launched in the UK, a few months after the US launch. If they're bringing us a 4K Anderson it would be nice if they started with Isle of Dogs (which has been 4K on iTunes since it was released), which I'd buy straight away. Having upgraded Rushmore once already and seen the steaming 4k I wouldn't be in a hurry to upgrade that.

With the trailer for Christian Petzold’s new film “Afire” coming out today, it got me wondering if there is any chance that Criterion may release his previous film “Undine” on blu anytime soon, or if such a thing is possible.

I am stunned that there is still no English friendly blu release of “Undine”, outside of a Korean boxset with three other Petzold films. It’s such a fantastic film, that surely warrants its own standalone release.
