My wife and I are about to have our 2nd child so will be keeping it small this sale.

And I have $20 in codes, so I may upgrade this to 4K:

I recommend picking up Valerie both because it's one of my favorite films and because hopefully more sales would encourage them to release more Czech/Eastern European titles.

IFC Center is doing a Dardenne retrospective.

The Son has a new 4K restoration from Janus (so does Rosetta).

Whether they are planning to get something, or have actually placed the order, I enjoy seeing people's selections because once in a while I forget something that I'd had my eye on earlier.

Not that I have to tell most people here that. I think most of us are on the same page.

Enthusiasm is infectious.

Excellent news. The Son might the bros' most acclaimed film yet it's still not available on Blu-ray (in the English-speaking world, at least).

Without consumerism, this forum wouldn't exist. Consumerism is its entire purpose. Come on now.

I personally hate the "what I ordered/what I plan to order" posts because they inflate my cart due to my lack of self control, but I'm aware that's a me problem.

Looking for advice. I would like to get Solaris, Stalker and Mirror in the sale tomorrow. It's just that because they are older titles I am quite afraid that within the year they will get announced on 4K which I would much rather have, but would probably not double dip as I have the dvds and buying a title 3 times just doesn't make sense to me(no offence to those who feel differently).

I realize that all anyone can make is an educated guess but my thoughts are that there are others in here who have more advanced knowledge about the status of any 4k restorations that may have been done etc. Any advice would be appreciated.

Edit: I mean, I guess I might buy them again for the 3rd time but would rather not lol.

I think Solaris is the only one that has a 4K restoration, so I would say that's the most likely of the them. The other two only have 2K restorations at the moment.

Solaris is 2K as well, I believe. I don't think MosFilm does any 4K restorations.

When I googled it, I found some mention of a new 4K restoration. I think it was from 2018.

MosFilm has definitely done some 4K restorations. Deaf Crocodile released Ilya Muromets, with a 4K restoration fro MosFilm. I think there were others too.

I believe Assassin of the Tsar should be one of them. Sampo, which was also released by Deaf Crocodile, got one as well.

Well, I was planning on five purchases, but I just realized I had $20 in gift cards instead of just $10.

Oh, alright...

I'll buy six.
