I was gonna do Inland Empire and Lost Highway 4k too, but the latter isn't urgent since I already have a blu of it and the former seems like such a risky blind buy I might try to track it down to watch before the next flash sale just to make sure I want it lol
I pulled back a lot more than I would normally too for the same reasons, just wanna be intelligent about the expenditures. I wound up getting Munchausen, Inland and Cooley High. Three Colors was high on my list, but assuming B&N sales are still a thing in July, I'll probably grab it then.

Sitting this one out, since tickets for The Cure and for two Depeche Mode shows just about wiped me out this month, and since I'm squirreling some cash away for my trip to California in May for the Cruel World music festival.

I'll make some Barnes & Noble runs during their next 50% off, I'm sure.

My thanks to everyone in this forum who posted over the last week about today's flash sale. Without you I wouldn't have been ready. For some reason, I didn't get the standard $10 coupon last week and didn't get an alert email yesterday either. I was wondering if maybe my email somehow blocked Criterion messages, but I placed my order just now, got a confirmation and my $50 coupon for next time. I'm wondering if I've been kicked out of the special club. I have the channel and I order all the time from this site so not sure what might have happened.

Thrilled to add the Bergman set to my collection. I used to own a lot of the single editions and Bergman is one of my favorite filmmakers.

Of course, I would have loved to order a ton more, but I have my limitations and couldn't order more at the moment. Saving towards a dedicated home theater projector and home theater build (a huge expense for the entire project) and then there's also the upcoming Kino Lorber and Warner Archive collection sales (both of which I expect to order some titles from by the end of the month).

Always good to know your limitations and budget/order accordingly if you can only get a few titles at a time from Criterion.

Not to hijack the thread, but I hear that as ticket prices today are absolutely insane.

My daughter saw Springsteen last week and thankfully her boyfriend's parents picked up the tab this time around. It boggles my mind what I've paid for Taylor Swift and Harry Styles tickets over the past ten years. And we're just as quilty, as I've spend a small fortune seeing u2 these past few decades. My wife and I are seeing Bono next month at the Beacon, and I'm too ashamed to post how much we paid for tickets.

When you're old enough to have paid $10 to see Led Zeppelin, or The Clash, u2 and yes, Depeche Mode for less than $20, the prices today are a bitter pill to swallow.

My most expensive ticket purchases in the past couple of months...

The Cure - $150
Madonna - $200
Duran Duran - $200
Depeche Mode - $240 for Atlanta show, $200 for Nashville show

Plus the trip to Cruel World festival in California to see Siouxsie, Love and Rockets, etc.

I grew up listening to all of these bands/artists, though, and there is a distinct possibility that I will never get to see any of them in concert again.
2023 seems sort of like a glorious last hurrah for my youth.

I've also got a lot of smaller shows this year (Clan of Xymox, Weyes Blood, Skinny Puppy, M83, Hoodoo Gurus, A Flock of Seagulls, Amyl and the Sniffers, Horsegirl, etc.), but the prices are all less than $40 apiece for those.

I remember my first concert, R.E.M. with Pylon, for $18 back in 1989. Lol

I'm finally waving the white flag at my Blu-ray collecting hobby, since my collection is running out of space, since I've already got enough to keep me busy for the rest of my life, and since I'm favoring experiences (concerts, etc.) over physical media post-COVID lockdown. I still buy various things (Vinegar Syndrome subscription, etc.), but I've only been spending a fraction of what I used to spend on movies.
