I keep hoping for THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WIND as I won't consider my Welles on Blu collection complete without it. I freely admit that I have never ever been disappointed by a Welles movie, not even F FOR FAKE, which I didn't really care for. I thought WIND was beautiful and brilliant, though not as controversial as it might have been if released when he made it.

Speaking of Netflix films: American Factory and Atlantics were confirmed back in 2019 as being eventual Criterion releases but we still haven't heard a peep about them coming out.

Something is up with Welles and home video releases and I think it's the usual battles between interested parties. No The Other Side of the Wind, They'll Love Me When I'm Dead, The Eyes of Orson Welles, Hopper/Welles or even Mank.

Years ago in uni film society in Ireland, we showed Pink Flamingos (it was obviously banned, probably still is). We were warned to warn the audience beforehand that they might find parts (parts?) of the film shocking. The audience roared and cheered with delight.

When the lights went up at the end, the auditorium was empty.

Now John Waters is providing a testimonial for Vincent Price on TCM and they had Pink Flamingos on just a few weeks ago (Mind you, they had Belle du Jour on at dinner time yesterday, and that was banned for ten years in Ireland).

They're also going to be screening the new 4K restoration of Peeping Tom in late November, which I'm hoping will be coming from Criterion as well.
