Groundbreaking! Finally a standalone Brazilian movie in the collection (Black Orpheus is French for all intents and purposes).

Not gonna double dip as I've secured the domestic release, but I hope it sells well and encourages Criterion to release more classics from my country. There are gems from South America; they just don't get picked up by boutique labels as much as European and Asian ones.

Farewell My Concubine is a must-have.

All in all, what a month!

"Pixote" and "Limite" deserve standalone editions too, maybe they'll do that in the future like they did with "Touki Bouki". I'm also hoping to see "City of God", "Entranced Earth" and "The Red Light Bandit" from Criterion, or maybe from another boutique label.
