Criterion just released Eric Rohmer's The Green Ray for purchase on digital. Seems like a likely candidate for a future BD release.

It really is so good.

I can never decide between Collateral, Heat, or Miami Vice as my favorite MM film.

That is entirely disrespectful to Heat, Collateral and Michael Mann.

Miami Vice is poverty-row Mann.

I think Criterion should release this film on blu-ray and there is a particular reason why...can anyone guess what it is?

Now that I have more than one Criterion, I’m starting to really appreciate the uniformity of the spines. It makes it look ever more like they go together. (Yes, I know War of the Worlds is a DVD. Walmart sent the wrong one.)

A criterion edition of Miami Vice the movie? Well, I guess if Armageddon got one.

Amazon isn't price matching everything so I had to go out and grab a copy of Le Samourai in-store. It's a million degrees here with 120% humidity so it wasn't fun.

Whenever Michael Mann's name comes up here, I just have to post something. I'm not sure I can compare Miami Vice to those two aforementioned films in terms of stone-cold amazing acting and original story however. But MV has its place in the canon of crime sagas and being that it's based on the 1984 TV series, it's even more admirable. Aside from the obscure The Keep and the misfire Blackhat, it's ranked as Mann's worst film (on Rotten Tomatoes) if that means anything.

If there's one movie that I think would be really cool in the Criterion Collection, it would be The Insider. From a soundtrack and musical standpoint, it is one of Michael Mann's most stirring and moving films (aside from The Last of the Mohicans).

Now that they have a relationship with the Wachowskis, I am hoping that we get Jupiter Ascending. It is one of the most underrated sci-fi films of recent years.

What's wrong with the existing 4k release?

So what's the possibility that Criterion has Rage in Harlem? I think it's very very high as it doesn't look like Kino has it. Also they did Deep Cover previously so doing another Bill Duke movie on Blu-Ray doesn't seem that much out of the realm for Criterion. I also think Criterion has Hoodlum as well which would make a lot of sense honestly.

Likely related to the twitter discourse around the film (long story short, someone tweeted that they were showing the film to their girlfriend and someone decided to make a stink about it and when she was called out she had a meltdown about it.)

I believe that star Bryant Haliday later founded Janus Films.

Blue Underground's upcoming UHD/BD of THE MILLION EYES OF SUMURU has a 101-minute documentary about Lindsay Shonteff, the director of DEVIL DOLL (1963/64).

I'd love to see DEVIL DOLL released on Blu-ray. The old Image DVD contained both the US and the spicier European editions of the film.

True, Cloud Atlas is probably the only other Wachowski film that has a shot.
