I'd probably go down on everything Godzilla at once. A copy of Showa that's not spider-wrapped, plus a Heisei release if it ever shows up, plus Minus One if Criterion ever does it.

I finally started the set the other night with Ride Lonesome. Holy cow. Beyond being just the tightest little gem of a film, it’s just beautiful.

Sometimes I think about when I started collecting LDs and how I wouldn’t even have been able to imagine a set like this, at this kind of quality. Now sometimes I’m at risk for taking all this for granted. It’s kind of a magical time.

Anyway, The Tall T is next.

Can anyone please tell me
a) when the 50% sale lasts until
b) will amazon be matching the b&n up until the end of the sale, or do they traditionally end their sale earlier?

Thanks!

Is Criterion done with Wes Anderson?
The last 3/4 films have been ignored.

No indication of that other than Isle of Dogs seems to be taking longer than usual. I think he's hands on in supervising the criterion releases. And other releases have taken a couple to a few years from theatrical release to a criterion disc. He's probably busy.

Here are my October predictions. It's unrealistically stacked, but I'm hoping for at least one of these.

Cronos 4K
Mr Vampire I-IV
I Walked With a Zombie and/or The Seventh Victim
Demon Pond
Titane 4K
Body Double 4K

(I also had Spellbound on there at one point, but figured that was pushing it )

For October, I'd be happy to finally see Atlantics. There was a lot of buzz for a while, but I haven't seen much about it since.

And Pandora's Box 4K. The new restoration is amazing...and you might say the tone is vaguely October-y. But that said, I'd take it any month, just the sooner, the better.

Yes, surprised that Atlantics hasn't been released as of yet, but then it was available on Netflix and CC for donkey's years. After making a splash and winning at Cannes, Diop hasn't really been on the radar, even with her latest.

Agree it would make a very good release for October, and not to oversell the film, but it's a terrific ghost story and certainly one of the best in recent memory.

I haven't seen the new restoration, but agree I'd buy it sight unseen any month, the sooner the better.

There's a match made somewhere on the internet.

Almost certainly not. The guy who owns Indian Paintbrush, which has produced all of Wes's recent films just bought the Criterion Collection, so I think any delays are just because of busy schedules. I am hoping hard for 4ks to start coming out soon.

Hopefully it’s “Encounters of the Spooky Kind” and Criterion are able to get Warner to license the 2nd film since there probably our best and last hope of ever seeing it on English friendly home video.

Mr. Vampire 1992 is also with WB, so a Criterion set would probably be the only chance of that getting an English friendly Blu-ray.
