While we're still waiting on Captain Blood and O Lucky Man!, we did get two titles from the secondary WB list this month, seemingly rendering it very likely we'll also get the other four at some point from Criterion (as well as Fugitive with any luck).

In for Demon Pond & the Val Lewton double feature!

Never understood the Harmony Korine love, but I hope others are excited! Keeping my Eureka/Masters of Cinema release of Pandora’s Box.

This is like my greatest month of predictions ever, albeit one coming from Sony and not Criterion, but still .

Cronos 4K

Demon Pond
Titane 4K
Body Double 4K

(I also had Spellbound on there at one point, but figured that was pushing it )

Will definitely pick up Demon Pond and the Val Lewton double feature. I already have Eureka's Pandora's Box. Not sure about Gummo...I saw it when it first came out and liked it but it did not overwhelm me.

Not an unreasonable preference.

I cancelled my Eureka PO last year when I realized that any eventual Criterion release might port over the four soundtrack options, rather than only offering the Peer Raben Orchestral Score found on the Eureka.
That was the deal breaker for me.

Good month. I expect I'll eventually be getting everything except Gummo.

Between Happiness and Gummo, Criterion trying to get the edge-lord demographic.

November just passed the $500 mark.

And also, we need to acknowledge how after almost two years without a Japanese film, Criterion gave us three in five months. We need to get back to doing them more often.

I still think we're getting something Japanese on 4K, most likely Seven Samurai, in November.

Were there any special features or swag in the Eureka that aren't on either Criterion?

don't know much about silent film, but saw 'pandoras box' with a live score by johann jóhannsson, philip jeck, and hilda gunadottir in 2012. absolutely fantastic film.

Great news obviously, but disappointed that Kent Jones' Val Lewton: The Man In The Shadows (narrated by Scorsese) is not included as an extra. What is weird is that it looks like Criterion has or had the rights to it. Keeping their powder dry for an eventual boxset?

Very good news. I was truly hoping for an entire year that this would get an October release and it does!

Exceptional news overall and as you said, great art too!

Holy shit, Gummo from Criterion? Absolutely historic. The Doom Generation, Happiness, and Gummo is one hell of a trifecta folks.
