No fan of the new artwork but anyway...

I would have preferred something close to the original like this:

i wouldn't say notable, but if you happen to like road films, you might well like this one. It reminds me of many solo road trips that I took decades ago (other than the fact that I didn't drive through impoverished neighborhoods with hookers seemingly on every corner). It's one of the most melancholy films that I've ever seen, which might or might not appeal to other viewers.

After seeing that Gummo clip, I am pretty solid on it not being for me. However, Pandora's Box definitely has my interest. I'll probably snag that once pre-orders go up.

I Walked With a Zombie (1943) and he Seventh VictIm (1943) in one package and in 4K, no less! I had a hunch that WAC licensed these out to Criterion, but I never expected a 4K release. What a surprise! This Halloween is going to be great.

Yeah it leans into looking too much like a design for Donnie Darko.

Somehow, I figured you would like that artwork better Hope you enjoy the release though. The artwork they have is very eye catching for someone like me who has never seen the film before

Id rather hope that Criterion picks up Buffalo 66 which is a great film. As for the shock value of Brown Bunny, sorry but John Waters has got Criterion Covered with Pink Flamingos, Female Trouble, Polyester, and hopefully many more! Id really like to see Criterion Get a hold of The Russ Meyer Collection which could use some more Criterion Love!

In for Pandora's Box. Probably will also grab the Lewton double feature.

Would LOVE to retire my Double Suicide DVD with an upgrade and would be ecstatic for Under the Blossoming Cherry Trees.

Scaramouche
The Year of Living Dangerously

I Am A Fugitive From A Chain Gang was also touted based on a Mervyn LeRoy phantom page.
So then a WAC release of Scaramouche is now considered unlikely? A shame. Although if Criterion actually releases that would be great. If it's something to stay in a vault then that's a tragedy.

Shocked they're releasing Gummo! I hope they have it on the Criterion Channel soon. My instant reaction to this news is to buy the 4K edition, but I have a feeling I'll want to get rid of my copy at point before the credits roll. But I've always been intrigued by this movie, so exicted to finally see (and in high quality!), one way or the other

I think it channels the works of Bresson a lot (Gallo is quite aloof but he did cite Angels of Sin as an influence). I think emotionally it's very strong.

I picked up the following:

Werckmeister Harmonies
The Red Shoes
High Sierra
Rouge
Desert Hearts

First two are 4K editions. Have not seen any of them except Desert Hearts which I found endearing, lovely.

Another 4K that I expect at some point is Buffalo 66.

Damn you Criterion, just when I'm about to leave you keep pulling me back in. I hate you, I tell 'ya! Hate you! Now that's over with, Pandora's Box, Demon Pond and I Walked With a Zombie/The Seventh Victim shall be mine one day, all mine!

Double Suicide is another very early Criterion DVD that's taken way too long to get to blu/4k blu. We now will have Pale Flower and Demon Pond and they were released 13 years apart. So by my calculations we'll be building our first Jupiter outpost on Ganymede by the time the next Shinoda comes out.
