Barnes and Noble aside, does Criterion still have a presence in any brick-and-mortar stores?

How sad, I had no clue.

Amoeba Hollywood has a bunch of used and new ones. But is there many/any brick-and-mortar stores that still sell physical media?

It doesn't seem like it. I can't think of any big retailers that carry releases consistently like most BN (not all) stores still do. It's probably a small miracle BN is still holding on.

In terms of physical media and stores, there aren't many left.

Wal-Mart is probably the biggest, but it's mainly DVDs and Blu-rays/4Ks of the biggest titles.

In California there is still Rasputin Music and Amoeba, but there aren't that many of those locations left. Some smaller shops here and there.

It's mostly an online business now.

The annual New Years drawing was a great marketing tool and an exciting way to rev up the Criterion collector base. I'm kind of surprised the company didn't hire a new artist after Polan passed away. Everyone loves a mystery, or in this case a drawing revealing clues for forthcoming releases. In any case, I hope a book comes out about him or perhaps even a documentary film (if footage was shot?).

'Talk to Her' has been at the top of my wishlist forever. Releases from the early 2000's seem to be one of the biggest black holes for movies to not get blu-ray releases at all.

I think the logic was that when the blu-ray format hit, studios didn't think there would enough appetite for people to rebuy mid-to-low profile movies that they just bought on DVD and so they just ended up getting forgotten.

Talk to Her, Live Flesh & Bad Education are the three I've been dying to have, but the fact that Talk to Her hasn't had a blu, feels almost criminal!

Newbury Comics on the East Coast doesn’t get them all in for their 3 dozen stores or so, but they do have a steady supply.

For me that's his Dracula film, although script and tone-wise it was a washout.

Considering how long it's taken for Trouble in Paradise to be released, I'm hoping that we get a full Pre-code Lubitsch at Paramount boxset that includes it along with upgrading all of the movies in the Eclipse Lubitsch musical set.

She should do one every week. Just wear a jacket next time. The closet looks like it’s at about 60 degrees.

A 5-film collection that combines the Lubitsch Musicals Eclipse with Trouble in Paradise would be wonderful, especially since there's new restorations of The Love Parade and The Smiling Lieutenant.

I'd love that but for the sake of my sanity, I need Trouble in Paradise to be separate, so my Top 100 can all be in line and I don't have a huge box set lumped in with them.
