Well that lowers the list even more

Secret Agent
Dead Presidents Interesting I wonder if Criterion will be putting this out I’m fascinated
She’s Gotta Have It
Adams Rib
This is Spinal Tap I think that mention by Albert Brooks on the special feature interview for the Real Life Blu-Ray, and 4K definitely was a hint at Criterion putting back out This is Spinal Tap on Blu-Ray, and 4K
Sabotage
Dersu Uzala
Young and Innocent
The Rock

What an interesting list of titles we’ve got here

Hopefully some Japanese boxsets are in the works.
Scorsese needs to throw his weight around. Unlike the most notable directors to use the Cameron clause, Scorsese uses it right, and could easily make some movement on KOTFM. Can't speak on Nickel Boys and CODA though, though I'm shocked at least the latter hasn't made its way into the collection yet.

And I second the need for Japanese box sets. I'd love the AK 100 set to come to Blu-ray or 4K. That would just be glorious.

An Ozu set, with a remastered Tokyo Story, would also be nice.

Hot take, I didn't hate the Querelle artwork. I didn't exactly love it, but I definitely didn't hate it. The plastic-looking Querelle (who looked slightly like Querelle in the face and nothing at all like him in the body...the drawing made him look like a jacked Patrick Warburton) reminded me of a Ken doll, which I think fits perfectly. It didn't radically reshape the movie for me, but it definitely gave me a new way to look at the film.

If anything, my biggest gripe with Querelle is that they used either an ancient transfer or something that looks like an ancient transfer. It looks like a really good DVD or a so-so Blu-ray, either one from the early to mid 2000s. It's a great movie, but had I read the review first, I honestly would've passed on it in the hopes of a 4K materializing, since that transfer was nowhere near as amazing as it could've been.

If a 4K shows up, I'm in for it.

I know this has been addressed ad nauseam, but why did Wikipedia have to delete the page of all the laserdisc releases? It had way more info than anything on IMDb or any other website, including cancelled laserdiscs (including Blue Velvet, The Prince Of Tides, the original Dr. Strangelove, multiple pressings of Kane and Kong, and even mention of Spine #385...a little known film called Gone With The Wind).

I'll try to find a list in my computer, because it was at least three times as long as WDIG's list (no offense, because you listed several I forgot about), but seriously, Wikipedia seriously effed up by deleting those pages. If I have the patience, and learn how Wikipedia works, I'll re-create them, since we lost a lot of info when they scrubbed the pages.

The English Patient is probably the laserdisc title being hinted at.

I'm going to guess that there will be a boxset released in time for the Summer sale..don't know what it'll be, Sword Trilogy for Duke, maybe, or another WCP set.

This would be great. With a probably second Shinobi No Mono set, The Betrayal, and this set, it would be a great year for Raizo fans. Not to get someone to release all the Sleepy Eyes of Death films.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS.

The Blu-ray was great, but with a complete 4K job on the OCN/best surviving elements, it could be even better.

The last time I saw Lolita was on the 1981 VHS (I grew up with the 1981 Beta), and even there, the print was solid, and the beautiful cinematography was on full display. As Humbert drove to Quilty's house, I was basically hypnotized to the screen. I always knew it was a great film since childhood, but I forgot just how great it was until I popped it in not that long ago.

For a director who has made tons of great films, a director where there's truly a debate as to which film was his greatest, and one who has so many films that frequently get the praise they deserve, Lolita has slipped under the radar, and I hope a 4K shows up soon. Lolita's a masterpiece, but a very underrated masterpiece.

So...good news and bad news.

Good news, I have the laserdisc list. Between my computer document, and the legendary poisonmail, the entire list is now pulled up.

Bad news, the document needs to be properly put together, which will take days.

Bad news, it's gon' be an opus.

Good news, it will take days to assemble, so don't expect the thread to jam up for a while. And I'll make it good enough that it can basically be the definitive list of laserdiscs.

And also, I have some Voyager discs, some Criterion Television laserdiscs (and Criterion said they'd never touch television...), many cancelled discs (I forgot about six Godzilla movies, including Gojira and Godzilla KOTM), and even the three Beta and VHS releases Criterion did for reasons unknown.

So...stay tuned for the laserdisc list. Not coming tonight, but coming soon...hopefully.

I'm pretty sure High and Low 4K is coming soon. I'm hoping it's paired up with a new to HD Kurosawa film. So NOT Hidden Fortress, NOT Ikiru, NOT Rashomon, but something like Stray Dog, The Bad Sleep Well, Red Beard, etc.

Will be curious to see what the next Japanese films we'll be getting. I think the Misumi trilogy will happen this year, maybe Burmese Harp which I really WISH will be paired with the superior Fires on the Plain. Maybe a surprise or two, but these seem like the next logical releases outside of more 4K upgrades.

Hoping for the 1948 Hamlet (which was on LaserDisc) to get a new release.

One of the last pre-CODA Best Picture winners not on Blu-ray in the US. So far, Around The World In 80 Days is the only one that doesn't have a legit Blu-ray anywhere, even though one is in the works. (They got a long-ass way to go though.)

As for Blu-rays in the states, Hamlet, ATW... and CODA are the only ones. And I believe CODA doesn't have any physical media release in the US.

Not relating to the laserdisc discussion but Tokyo Drifter has a 4K restoration that came out last year from L'Immagine Ritrovata with a website article on the restoration process behind it. I have a feeling that since Branded to Kill was able to get one, chances of Tokyo Drifter are also likely. I'm expecting a release sometime between this year and next year but if it never comes out, I'm still content with the current Blu-ray release which is already beautiful as it is. Both films has had one of the greatest arcs in film restoration from being one of the worst Criterion DVDs to now one of the most beautiful (Well at least for Branded to Kill since Tokyo Drifter isn't released/announced yet).

I'm 70-80% sure it's this title. Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche visiting the Criterion Closet a few months back and also the fact that Criterion has been putting out Miramax titles as of late just screams The English Patient 4K to me. TheDigitalBits also mentioned this as well. I don't know if there is a pattern for the release dates of Miramax titles from Criterion but I'm thinking this may be a July release.

Sling Blade was an LD title and it’s been rumored for a while. The Unbearable Lightness of Being is one I’d love for them to bring back. Lots of great options.

I picked up the Italian 4K of CODA and it looks great. I hesitated on the Italian 4K of Killers of the Flower Moon and that might have cost me the opportunity to own it.

Definitely picking up Anora, so Hamlet and ATW are the last two Best Picture winners I need to have them all on Blu or better (but I do have the DVD of ATW). I’ve been trying to complete that collection since the VHS days and I’m SO close now.

Criterion didn't send out any gift code emails to Channel subscribers yesterday like they often do before a sale, so this Tuesday isn't looking promising either.
