Some cool releases, although I'm genuinely shocked (and disappointed) that Flow still wasn't announced. Seems like it'd be a huge seller for the July sale

I also respect that people may be triggered even by simulated cruelty done with the best of intentions due to past trauma in their lives. (I have my own sensitivities... the details of which I do not want to get into here.)
Even simulated rape bothers me even if it serves the interest of the plot it’s just not something I like to watch in film. Forgot to mention cruelty to rabbits too as much as I love Watership Down the film, and the book too I don’t like seeing cruel things being done to rabbits. Rabbits are freaking adorable whether they’re the domesticated ones, or the wild ones. I have a church friend that now lives in South Carolina that has a cute pet rabbit as his son is allergic to most dogs. Rabbits, dogs, and cats are awesome

I get ya though some things trigger people a lot that being rape for me as it brings back past trauma in peoples lives, and for others it’s cruelty to some animals, and for others it’s torture scenes.

Still no I’m not advocating for censorship far from it I just find rape to be one of the most despicable evil things to put in a film.

Yes! I think the long wait for this release will be worth it.

For a July, this is shockingly light slate

Edit: I take it back. Didn't see the box set. 400 blows is easily one of my favorite films.

I’m kind of interested in both Barry Lyndon and The Doinel, although I’d prefer a standalone of The 400 Blows. Saying that, it probably won’t be worth getting at Criterion’s price point if they use the same questionable masters Carlotta did for their UHD release.

Solid titles, but I gotta say, it doesn't feel like the most impressive month for a sale

Okay, technically no, so perhaps I put it badly. But he does say:

It disgusts me, and I don’t know why movies continue to put rape scenes in films they feel completely unnecessary.

So I take it that his preference would be that we never address or feature rape in any films. The punctuation is confusing but he's not saying "when they feel completely unnecessary", he seems to be saying it always feels unnecessary, which I can't agree with. Rape is a fact of life and can't be outside the remit of art. Indeed, many people who've undergone such abuses find it cathartic to see it being addressed even if it's difficult to watch. Obviously there's a world of difference between THE ACCUSED and I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE but again, people should be given information and allowed to make their own choices.

The Big Heat has come a long way since the limited Twilight Time release. Great to see it make it to UHD.

The Big Heat been wanting to watch that one as Glenn Ford is great to watch

Carnal Knowledge sounds great too kind of figured this was coming after Indicator announced this for their July slate

Sadly no Flow yet somehow even though Curazon is putting out their release in June same with no Brother From Another Planet I have a feeling those two are coming at some point this year though.

Shockingly I expected a Scorsese title, and Captain Blood still no dice on either of those ones man also no Hud yet either although that only got recently announced to be coming from Janus so that’s not really that surprising.

Prime Kubrick, Nichols, Truffaut and Lang. It’s a damn fine cup of cinematic coffee. And remember what we got for June… the July sale will be huge!
