The Starlet cover artwork will more than likely look like this when announced/released.

Although, I'd say the cover for Criterion's 1999 DVD of Armageddon is and always will be the most MINIMALIST artwork for any home video release EVER!

If it was just based on the film? Oh yeah. But that commentary is so deeply associated with Criterion, a title that comes up every time there's a discussion of the all-time great commentaries, that I would be genuinely shocked if it doesn't make its way over at some point.

But I don't think we'll see The Rock.

I never heard that commentary track! The Criterion DVD is long out of print but I can still buy the DVD for $13 on Amazon Prime in "Good" condition. I might just do it. After all, 26 years of waiting to own Armageddon is 26 years too long, especially if the world is feeling a bit like Armageddon lately! Plus the old Criterion DVD has two commentary tracks, not just one (but yes, the first one with Michael Bay, Jerry Bruckheimer, Bruce Willis, and Ben Affleck IS THE ONE to hear).

Just a random thought but I just saw Shall We Dance last night and it made me think that there would probably be a good chance Criterion could release this one. Not only is there a new 4K restoration being shown in theaters by Film Movement but it's also previously a Miramax title. If this film follows the same path and history as Farewell My Concubine did, I wouldn't be surprised if Criterion ended up releasing this on home video (Perhaps the first giveaway should be seeing who's going to be listed as distributor once the film is available to purchase on streaming).

Maybe that means Criterion or Studio Canal might also release it. I hope so. Le chat qui fume aren't always reliable for including English subs.

I wonder if anyone here can help me? I'm in the UK and just tried to play my A coded Eyes Without a Face in my multi region Panasonic UB159 and it says the 'The content is not compatible'. It's not a region coding thing because it has played every A disc I've thrown at it apart from this one. Does anybody here had playback issues?

Mods, I hope you don't mind but I'll post this in the UK criterion thread too.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Edited to add:

Found help in the UK thread.

Didn't hear that. All I know is that Kevin is touring the movie (actually starting today) and that it will hit theaters in the first weekend of June.

Ah found it. From a Vulture article:

But G̶o̶d̶ Alanis Morissette works in mysterious ways. The convicted rapist needed money for challenging the aforementioned convictions, so his company sold a huge chunk of film off. “I guess he needed money for his legal fees and shit,” Smith said, “and he sold a giant package that was a bunch of kung fu movies, Fahrenheit 9/11, Kids, and Dogma.” The company didn’t realize what they had bought, Smith said. “When they looked at them, they’re like, ‘Ben Affleck’s in this one!’” They reached out to Smith, who said it was “like getting my ****ing child back.”

Does anyone know if the Brakhage re-issue misses anything when it comes to the booklet?
