Psyched for Hell’s Angels! Not a fan of the cut and paste cover art, would look better without Harlow and instead with just the great colors, sky, planes, dirigible etc. Time to replace my blu ray

Harlow wears quite a few scandalous dresses in her precode films. She was also known to dislike wearing underwear and in some films, it is very apparent. The shift in Harlow's clothing is very evident when the Production Code starts to be enforced starting July 1934.

Funny we're getting Hell's Angels after I just watched The Aviator for the first time in awhile (which needs a 4k too).

I dunno, I'm not convinced we won't see Lolita for a few months now.

Director pairings are common in a single month spine to spine (so I thought that might be the case this month), but does the same director get represented in two CONSECUTIVE months? I can't think of any examples (at least for new releases, not for an upgrade situation).

Of the two I was hoping for Lolita which I've been eager to revisit.

Hell's Angels is definitely far from one of the greatest, but the spectacle makes it worthwhile. I'll probably pick that up at some point!

But if Hell's Angels can get the 4K treatment.... hope for That Hamilton Woman?

That'll likely come from Arrow.

I would agree that "Hell's Angels" isn't a great film; but it is an important film in Hollywood history. Any and all Classic Hollywood films that Criterion chooses to restore and release is A-Ok with me. I am in agreement with others hoping for "Captain Blood." I would also love "Ball of Fire," "The More the Merrier," "Baby Face," and "Red-Headed Woman."

I remember quite enjoying Hell's Angels when I watched it on the Channel a year and a half ago or so.

While the amount of DVDs they put out has significantly dwindled, I'm still surprised that Criterion puts out DVD versions of their releases (El).

My dark horse buy is House Party. The second appearance in the collection of Martin Lawrence and holy moly the DJ is played by George Clinton? How did I not know this??

Was Kubrick paying homage to Scorsese here? This shot could've easily been taken from Mean Streets or Goodfellas.

I feel like December releases are not usually big titles, but they did drop No Country for Old Men last December...

Just the stand-alone blu of Hell's Angels for me, but I'm surprised that Captain Blood and Hud are still MIA. There was some word that there would be a Harold Lloyd release by the end of the year - presumably Why Worry?, Girl Shy, or perhaps a double feature of the two. I guess we'll know next month if that will be so or not. Of course, poor Erich von Stroheim and The Wedding March are still left waiting.

If there’s been a better all around month from Criterion before this I surely can’t remember it.
