Great month of releases all around. Especially Dazed and Confused, Harakiri and Island of Lost Souls.

Can 'Salo' and 'tasteful' be used in the same sentence?

I'll probably get all of the titles except Salo. Don't know anything about Identification of a Woman. I'll probably pass. I liked the look of Red Desert, but I prefer a more defined plot and wasn't that fond of the movie. How is this movie in comparison?

The "Dazed and Confused" page states that the disc will include a director's cut. Is this true? I'm 99% sure that the Criterion dvd was just the theatrical. Could we be getting both cuts via seamless branching?

I second that. I busted out laughing followed by feeling rather queasy.

Quick question:
What is the overall feel of The Music Room? What kind of role does the music play in it? Is it mostly drama? Any other elements like suspense, light humor etc...

Just wondering what others think about it.

Music plays a big part in it, but it is not a film about Music. You can say drama.

I saw that too. My guess is that it's a typo. Their previous DVD was the theatrical cut, and I seem to remember Linklater stating there wouldn't ever be a director's cut of Dazed.

Plus, you'd think Criterion would have made a bigger deal out of it being a director's cut, right?

If you look at the length it is the same as the theatrical, so you are probably correct.

I think you're right; it is probably a typo. The website lists the features of the disc exactly as they were listed on the back of the 2006 Criterion dvd with the exception of adding "director's cut."

It also lists the runtime as 102 minutes... which is the same runtime of the theatrical. So my guess is no.

You should find room for that on your resume.

It's okay, but would've picked something with a more 30's-Universal monster feel to it.(Okay, it was Paramount, but it still had Bela Lugosi in it. )
It's not THAT artsy for early HG Wells on film.

Still, even though they had to improvise the bonus features, with no one around to talk about a 30's talkie, the "Are we not men?--We are De-vo!" interview seemed a bit of a....stretch.

I have never seen The Third Man but you cannot go wrong with The Man Who Fell to Earth imo. I actually have not seen any of the upcoming releases except for Dazed and Confused, which I hated, so I need to check them all out soon except for Salo. No thanks, I will pass on that one. The Four Feathers and Kuroneko sound like the most interesting films imo. I also need to get Black Orpheus before the sale ends.
