Salo is showing up as released today and backordered on the Criterion store. Not sure about Dazed and Confused. But they are all announced on other parts of the Criterion site so not like it is a third party with wrong info and they will get it sorted out soon I am sure

It's a GOOD sign. It means more films that doesn't meet the "jam packed with features" standards can still get releases.

Perhaps all that hammering is still having an effect.

What a list. Solid, solid, solid. I'm in for all of them, though will wait for an uber-good price on Dazed and Confused, since I already own the HD-DVD on that*.

*same thing I said about Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, then I ended up getting it really soon after release. Sigh.

As long as quality doesn't take a hit I'm all for a wider net as well.

This really fast tracked DAZED and CONFUSED is a good sign for Universal - Brazil since Criterion already noted they would release their edition on BLU soon. Who knows it could very well be a NOV/DEC Box Set title.

Why would you want that? Universal's release already has most of Criterion's special features. I want Spartacus.

Looks like I'm canceling my Preorder for Universal's Dazed and Confused blu ray disc release in August.

I can wait until October for this instead of that.

Doesn't BN also usually have a Criterion sale November 1st? That would be a great time to pick up Dazed and Confused and the rest of these titles.

Indeed, I would preferred it over Dazed and Confused for the longer cut but before Brazil I still want Spartacus

As for the announcements, I'm really disappointed that Vampyr was not one of the titles.

The Four Feathers - Need to watch first
Kuroneko - ditto
Identification of a Woman - not interested
Island of Lost Souls - need to watch first
Harakiri - ditto
Dazed and Confused - Want
Salo - No way in hell, I read the Wiki entry. Call me weak, but it sounds gross and terrible.

+1. If this means Criterion can put out a lot more "risky" films because they dont have to spend much on supplements, then I'm all for it.

Also: Harakiri in October but not Kwaidan.....huh? At lease some Kobayashi is making it to blu.

Interesting lot. Like everything but Salo and Dazed and Confused. (although I have not seen the Antonioni film)

Oct. will be another great month for Criterion fans.

I'm also glad Salo is getting upgraded, but I am fine with my dvd. Its not really a film I watch a lot.

The Four Feathers don't know much about it but it shows up on TCM a lot
Kuroneko definite buy, might not even wait for it to go on sale (though that could just be early Halloween spirit talking)
Identification of a Woman don't know anything about it
Island of Lost Souls no rush but will probably pick up at some point
Harakiri definite buy
Dazed and Confused never really interested but given the buzz (get it? buzz? no, seriously, this stuff just, I don't know, comes to me) I should probably at least check it out at some point
Salo I'm going to have to see what kind of font they use for the subtitles. If it's something tasteful...
