I actually saw The Big Heat at the local revival theatre 2 weeks ago, and enjoyed it very much.

The feeling I got during the
[Show spoiler]car bomb explosion
scene is one of the reasons I love watching cinema.
[Show spoiler]The scenes leading into that I was thinking something's going happen right now, but I was still like when it did.

I have never seen the Three Colors trilogy and am very much looking forward to the Criterion release! I hope they are sold in a set and not individually.

I would prefer a set as well but then they wouldn't be in cool plastic cases.

I'm torn, I tell you, torn.

Yay! I got my copy of The Killing/Killer's Kiss.

Now where's the "Early Films of Stanley Kubrick" Box Set featuring Fear and Desire and Kubrick's three short films? Get your act together, Criterion!

It's likely that they would end up costing more if they were sold individually, even though I would prefer the regular cases as well.

I would love to see them get the rights to one of the F&D prints if only to see the mental gymnastics they would have to go through to reconcile their reverence for directors (and I'm not saying that sarcastically) with Kubrick's wish that F&D never again see the light of day.

That would take some Grade A rationalizing, that would.

I think you'll see Spartacus first before those other ones.

Criterion did Paths of Glory and The Killing. Plus the other Kubrick films are on blu-ray in good to excellent editions.

People always want what they can't have. It's like Citizen Kane being announced for blu-ray then someone asking for his short TOO MUCH JOHNSON (good title btw) on blu-ray.

I feel the same way. Although would be cool if they sold them in a set in the plastic cases and also sep. spine #'s to buy as each

At any rate if it is a box set which I imagine it will be, it will be released in NOV and I am sure many will snatch it up during a Barnes 50% off sale which is usually in NOV also.

They could follow suit of the Yojimbo/Sanjuro set. Individual plastic cases inside a slip box. I wouldn't mind them doing something similar to the BBS set. I really dig the packaging variety on my CC shelf.

That's my biggest gripe with DD and DHL. What good is a tracking number when it always ends with 'Tendered to USPS' and from there out it guess work.

The Kane release could be a lot better.

WB only giving us Kane on blu is lazy. Docs I've already seen once again issued on DVD + more cardboard isn't worth it. Plus, Ambersons on DVD makes me angry.

I'll likely go with the blu-ray only UK release.

As for Vigo, I'm very much looking forward to it!

The Three Colors news made me browse Hulu's Criterion Collection and I saw two films that I really hope they'll release on blu-ray very soon: Kiyoshi Kurosawa's Cure and Resnais' Mon Oncle d'Amerique. F*cking masterpieces, those two. I've seen Mon Oncle d'Amerique twice now, and it's already one of my all-time faves. And Cure is simply a fantastic and "mesmerizing" cat-and-mouse murder-mystery. If you haven't seen these two and have Hulu Plus, I strongly suggest you check them out.

Hey Spidey...how come you didn't remind me about "Strike"? I just realized that it's coming out the same day as the Vigo set. I had ordered "If..."...also due on the same day, but may cancel it, as money is tighter these days. Trying to convince myself that "Strike" is the better choice for now and maybe save "If...." for the November sale. Strike is also cheaper.

I forgot about it too (so thank you). Strike is the better choice. I was just focused on the Vigo set and the Soviet set that Flicker Alley is releasing in Sept. I was also wanting the Kurahara Eclipse this month but I might wait until a sale (hopefully Criterion gets 75,000 "friends" on Facebook soon, because they announced they are thinking of doing something).

You're quite welcome! That Soviet DVD set looks interesting...price is a bit too rich for me right now, but maybe it will get cheaper in the near future.

You should definitely get it directly from Flicker...as it's $15 cheaper there, than at Amazon.

Well..."If...." will be back burnered for now...bring on "Strike"!

Yeah, I don't know where I'm getting the $ for the Flicker Alley box either, but will try (not buying anything from Criterion).
