Well that's better. I am still curious as to how Criterion could possibly release Badlands, since we all know WB doesn't like to give them titles. I also think your list is better than the unofficial one in the wishlist thread, as the top titles seem to be dominated by David Lynch and/or titles already out on BD with quality releases (unlike poor quality ones like Spartacus).

Thank you.

I figure if one wants to get a lot of people participating ya gotta make it easy to submit a request. Google forms seems to be the ticket.

Ideally, I'd like to embed the form directly into my signature but this site doesn't take those kind of object tags.

going off the Chaplin films

that seems to be the way CC rolls these days.

Too bad, because that would be all kinds of awesome to have the embedded vote box.

I think this poll is much more interesting, because you can add so many titles, and I think most of the ones posting in the other one don't frequent this thread all that often.

I do really like the list of current top ones, other than Badlands and The Fountain. Several of them are ones I'd really like to see upgraded/added soon.

The 39 Steps would be a welcome — though expected — release from Criterion. One of the best examples of early Hitchcock.

Which is exactly what I was going for. As I said, turnabout's fair play, and most of us are hypocritical, some are just more hypocritical than others.

I honestly wouldn't be all that upset if those two titles did get released. I may not enjoy them, but I won't stop others from enjoying them. I just found the whole "liek omg, Criterion is releazing teh tiny furnitures shit, tehy is teh ruins! Criterion isn't catering to meeeee by not relezing non-mainstream stuff!!!!!111eleventy" amusing as the top choices in our poll are for stuff that's far more mainstream than Tiny Furniture.

I think most of us take ourselves far too seriously sometimes in this thread, although it's been a bit more jovial as of late.

Nice to see 39 STEPS coming. I almost bought the Essential Art House DVD for $10.00 during the last sale. I'm really hoping Criterion starts adding more upgrades each month.

I'm happy to see this too. I still have my old criterion dvd that came in the set with the other 4 hitchcock criterions at the time, but I'm definitely on board for any Hitchcock blu upgrades.

Criterions facebook page just posted a nasty picture of a can of 35mm film containing Bergman's Summer Interlude being utterly devastated into flaking pieces. I'm starting to wonder if the May 29th release is now completely off the table. What a bummer. I guess stay tuned for news on that one.

It's about time these classics were brought back to the Criterion Collection in blu-ray format. I'm sick of all these "new" "modern" (except for Wes Anderson, whom I love) titles. We need the "classics of world cinema" oop of print titles restored to the collection. "Grande Illusion" is spine #1 and it's not even in print!
I have been more of a "lurker" as of late...real busy at my school job and can't keep up as much as I used to...however, this post made me want to post right away!

oop of print? So, would that be, "out of print of print"?

Wes Anderson=not new, not modern. Whew!

Grand Illusion=spine #1=wins a prize of never going out of print of print.

Oh, and by the way...THEY'RE UP!!!!

OOPOP Box Set!! (featuring all titles out of print of print, including #1 Grand Illusion)
#56 The 39 Steps
#615 The Spiral Staircase
#616 Throw Mama From the Train
#617 The Singing Detective
#618-#622 "Not new, not modern boxset."

Why would it affect the release date in any way? They obviously have created a master from a different source.

It just means that the transfer came from a different source. At least I hope it came from a different source.

Yeah I had no idea if this was from the print they were working on during the telecine transfer process or not. Not trying to be fear mongering here. I hope its just a random can of some release print they found and nothing really important.

I would assume that they aren't just getting around to opening the film canister if they already announced a release date.

They obviously have other sources, just that particular one could have provided an upgrade if it wasn't destroyed.
