What should we flood it with? Coupons debate? Cover art arguments? What's going to be release next Monday? Why all Wes Anderson movies are not in the collection? Obscure vs mainstream movies?

I boycott Chapters for a large number of reasons. I won't get into them here.

Gah! I already did an Amazon.ca order today for the Howl's Moving Castle series and the only Vonnegut book I don't own (that isn't out of print that is), While Mortals Sleep (held off on it because I heard it was terrible, but it's not that terrible at all, just a little unpolished, and I'm a completest as much as possible when it comes to Vonnegut) on top of the Criterion order at B&N!

Amazon.com is only good for films, books usually end up being more for me. Looks Like I'll have to wait a few more weeks and order it along with Night of the Hunter and The Leopard. Possible The River and Black Narcissus as well. There's just too many books I want to read/own. It's worse than Criterions!

BTW, Late Spring shipped 2 days early, still waiting for M and Samurai trilogy, which I was able to find a copy of the novel.

Wouldn't mind to have some movies from their Criterion wine collection haul.

Geez. So negative. I don't mind hearing about film fans getting excited about owning some new blu rays. Isn't that why we come on these boards in the first place?

Luckily I only made two orders late last night. That was going nuts for me though as I only planned on getting two or three titles at Barnes and Noble today, but that obviously all changed when I could get free titles.

I'm in total agreement with the original poster. There's nothing negative about not wanting to read list after list of what people have bought. It's boring. And there's a WHOLE THREAD in the deals section devoted to this. Once you've received the films and watched them and want to debate their merits, this is the thread you come to, imo.

ENJOY!
For what it's worth, I stopped at a local B&N store today and tried to use these coupons. The sales clerk tried to help me, but for some reason the coupons wouldn't go through. He thought that maybe they didn't work because I'm not a member. ???

EDIT: I'm talking specifically about the "$8 Off One DVD or Blu-Ray with a minimum price of $40 or more" coupon with a bar code of 121951.

Only opted for Berlin Alexanderplatz and The 39 Steps today. Couldn't go wrong with the Fassbinder for $52.14. According to my wife and Spidey...I will be glued to my seat for the entire series. After enjoying World on a Wire, my hope springs eternal.

The only other two that I'll likely be able to afford is Down By Law next week and the Gremillion Eclipse set the week after that. Surprisingly, it doesn't show up on the B&N website (yet) and I tried to order it to my local store today. It came up under "Jean Gremillion During the Occupation" (no mention of it being an Eclipse set) and the cover art was for The Last Days of Disco". Go figure?!

Can anyone recommend Three Outlaw Samurai as a blind buy? I usually love samurai movies so I think for $15 and 10% off it would be a steal.

If you like samurai films you should be in good shape. It is a great movie and a nice transfer.

Interac is a Canadian only network for debit cards. In the states (as far as I'm aware) all debit cards are branded with either visa and mastercard. This way they are usable anywhere that accepts either credit card.

It always seemed to me to be less than efficient for all these Canadian merchants to have to have access to an entirely separate network, just so they can accept debit cards.

Of course some of that might be leftover frustration from all the "Interac Only" ATMs at the Ottawa Bluesfest this weekend. Frustrating.

Regarding actual Criterion stuff, I look forward to hearing your opinion of Samurai Trilogy when you finally get/view it. I watched it all in one day and loved it.

Will definitely pick it up. If I have some money to spare and they let me use the 8/40 on the samurai trilogy I will get that as well.

You are not alone. Pearls of the Czech New Wave, Late Ozu, Early Bergman, and Gorin for me. Depending on funds I may add one more.

Late Spring, The Samurai Trilogy, and Down by Law are my only definite blu-ray wants on par with the Eclipse sets.
