Ohhh, do I know that feeling PowellPressburger. I've been a big fan of Roeg's work since his days as Corman's DP on Masque of the Red Death. And it's taken every ounce of restraint to not buy and watch that Criterion Bad Timing DVD. I nearly pulled the trigger twice last year alone.

Just a crazy thought...what if Criterion announces a Blu upgrade of BT:ASO plus a new Roeg acquisition, Don't Look Now?

I'm pretty sure you're confusing The Naked City with either The Naked Jungle or Dark City (or some other title?)

The Naked City were released on DVD by Criterion.I hope Blu upgradee will follow soon.

Would Criterion be able to release Badlands? I thought Warner Bros owned the rights.

It's not impossible, just unlikely.

I'm hoping for Life and Death of Colonel Blimp and In a Lonely Place. Won't count on it though, but I'm sure I'll find something interesting to pre-order in December alongside Finding Nemo.

I'm ashamed to say I want Life Aquatic, because I enjoyed the film. It was the second Anderson film I enjoyed actually. He's about hit or miss for me, and I seem to dislike all the films that even the anti-Anderson fans begrudingly enjoy (Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, Tennebaums), while the ones I do like, people seem to hate (Life Aquatic, Darjeeling Limited, Fantastic Mr. Fox)

I haven't seen Moonrise Kingdom yet, so that one could go either way.

Tork is fixed, no thanks to Sony Tech Support (Still in warranty, but the guy was an idiot and kept telling me to power cycle my PC. Pretty sure when your laptop says HDD gonna die on bootup, you shouldn't do power cycling!). I ended up ordering a shiny 750GB Western Digital drive from Newegg, a 110GB upgrade. A Safe Place/Drive, He Said is going nowhere near this machine now that the drive's switched, out of fear that my laptop will freak out and decide to die again.

For the love of god, they need to release The Life Aquatic already! This is getting out of hand.

I'm also anxiously awaiting them to announce The Tenant...

Fry's has buy a Criterion get one half off. I think shipping kills the deal but there might be something in there.

I'm going to guess a Melville pairing of Le samouraï and Le silence de la mer for tomorrow's announcements.

Le Doulos and Le Deuxième Souffle. That would be something.

I'd love to see some Naruse announced for Blu-Ray tomorrow. Or Orson Welles' The Immortal Story

I'll go out on a limb here and predict they'll upgrade Spartacus.

But I really hope we see Le Samourai (non-Pathe transfer).

Those two, plus these upgrades in the near future, would make me happy:

The Cranes are Flying
The Naked Prey
The Spy Who Came in from the Cold
Ballad of a Soldier
Ivan's Childhood
Picnic at Hanging Rock
Tokyo Story
The Bad Sleep Well
The Burmese Harp
The Teshigahara Box Set

Oh, hell, who am I kidding, so many great DVDs waiting in the queue....just upgrade 'em all
