If Criterion is going by most requested via My Criterion then it's Badlands. It's on about 70+ My Criterion pages as a request.

It being December I doubt we'll get much else (I'm talking quantity here, not quality. Quality wise that would be a fantastic December!)

The Facebook post said "Blu-ray upgrade" which should disqualify Badlands. I'm still going with Picnic At Hanging Rock. They seem to traditionally do early-spine-number upgrades in December.

On second thought, it probably is Brazil. It would fulfill both the early spine number and highly-anticipated criteria.

I would say with 100% certainty it is Brazil. It has been asked about for years now and is extremely popular with the CC fans. There was lots of chatter when it was released by Universal a while back. I guess we'll find out later!

Isn't it too soon after Umberto D? Ditto for those wishing for another Kurosawa, Rashomon came last month. Also, it's too soon for an Anderson as well. Criterion usually waits a minimum of 5-6 months between releases by the same director.

Another B possibility: Beals of Grey Gardens/Grey Gardens double pack, because it was hinted at in the newsletter and it hasn't shown up yet.

I think one month Criterion should put out Andrei Rublev and Badlands and then watch the internet melt and the world descend into chaos.
