Good to see BohemianGraham isn't going (wait for it) ape (insert Picard facepalm here) that they aren't releasing the Monkees' 33 1/3 R.P.M.
To quote the late Davy Jones, "you must be joking!"

The only four redeeming things about 33 1/3 are:

1. Brian Auger, Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Little Richard playing pianos stacked on top of each other, it's really sweet
2. Peter is especially attractive in this special, and looks like he wants someone to put him out of his misery when they're dressed in the monkey (literal) suits.
3. The first 5 minutes of Listen to the Band
4. Micky's commentary where he snarks the piss out of it

Naked Persimmon's kinda cool, but not enough to count as a redeeming feature.

If Criterion really wanted to be hip and obscuro, they could either try to make a deal with Nez over Elephant Parts, or they could release that b-movie from the 1970s that Micky starred in called Night of the Strangler. I want to see it because apparently he plays a rapist/murder.

There are many films that I would like to see be released by Criterion, but the big ones for me are The Blob and The Life Aquatic (and until now, Brazil).

Kris Kristofferson's 'weathered sensuality' is going to be pretty hard to beat for 'ummmmm, okay' moments but yeah, that's pretty good.

Though to be fair, it is Alain Delon.

Bunuel's Tristana
Malick's Badlands
Cronenberg's Crash

Moodysson's Lilya 4-Ever

Here is my top 10ish Criterion Collection DVDs (non-OOP) that need to be ugraded to Blu-Ray:

In your defense you never extoll the virtues of he Xmas special

p.s. I own all six on Blu, have watched them at least once since (and never "hate watch"). I neither love nor hate them. There are even a few very good fan edits out there.

You're fine! I was only offended minimally by the Nolan/Fincher remark hehe.

Well early 60's, got to remember that back then Delon was being compared to Gerard Phillipe or Jean Marais as the new "beau gosse" on the block.

I wish Kino had specified which version (if they did, I missed it). I'd really like the German version w/ English subs, which the German Blu lacks (it has both versions, but no English subs on the German version).

If it's just the English version, I won't bother. (Although after watching the German Blu this weekend I can report the English version is in better shape than the German version in terms of PQ and AQ, so anyone looking forward to it should be pleased.)

That would be fantastic. I remember renting both that and Eating Raoul (coming to CC!) from my local video store had them side-by-side in the cult section of my locally-owned video store (on VHS, of course). I was too young (13?) to have a clue what either was but thought the titles were funnier than fart jokes. I was amused by Elephant Parts and have blocked my traumatized memory of Raoul.

Don't lump Fincher and Nolan together

Anyways I'm getting all of them
Qatsi Trilogy: I'm enthusiastic about this have only seen Koyaanisqatsi and loved it
Brazil: love this film and haven't bought the Universal BD.
Purple Noon: seems like a safe Blind Buy
Following I pretty much like everything Nolan, with MUCH reservation, of course. So this seems like a decent Blind buy.

Yeah, Yeah! I know I am bad!

I just think that we will always have these posts, people hoping for "their favorites" to be included in Criterion releases even if in most cases the need for a Criterion release is just not needed. It's always going to happen, it's almost normal that is will happen

I'd say it's primarily for Antonioni Fans like myself. If you loved L'Avventura, Red Desert, Blow up.... Pick it up! It's definitely not as good as those, but is it ever dreamy and calmly assured.
