I'm sure it's going to be easily available a long time.

Regarding Chungking Express, Amazon has currently 13 copies in stock and more on the way. If it really were out of print, would that be even possible? Others have speculated that this might be just temporary because the films rights are moving from Miramax to Janus.

Sure, it's possible. They announced The Third Man was going OOP in the middle of the summer and I picked it up the following Nov during the B&N sale. Same with Pierre le Fou...that was on the shelves for quite a while (several months) after it went OOP.

I have no idea what the status of Chungking Express is or isn't but the fact that it hasn't immediately disappeared doesn't say anything one way or the other.

Just ordered Eclipse Series 6 through Barnes N' Noble. It's out of print everywhere but it was still available through BN for $46 and change. I used coupon "B7R9E7X" and got it for $38.00

Edit: BN was trolling and gave me #30 when I was looking for #6 - balls!

Cancelling it lol

Ok. I got my shipping notice from DeepDiscount for Chungking Express.

Looks like it's shipping DHL "Hell" so it could be 3 days or 10 days from Southern California to Oregon.

I remember The Man Who Fell To Earth went OOP and was hard to buy rather quickly.

Criterion posted on their forum that the reason Chungking Express is in low supply is because they are changing the packaging.

It is not going out of print.

Sellers on eBay have been listing this movie as OOP off and on for the past two years, and now it's actually true!

Was this where you found the confirmation?

http://www.criterionforum.org/forum/...=531&start=150

That confirmation from Jon was back in February 2011, which means that the current release likely really is OOP.

Most recent post in the other forum about Chungking Express OOP:

Quote:
Criterion on Facebook:

It's OOP. We are hoping to be able to bring it back into print, but it's not a sure thing by any means. There may still copies available in the retail channel, but it is no longer available from our site. Sorry about that.

Hopefully it all works out in the end and it returns to the collection as part of some future Lionsgate deal. If you don't own it yet, now's the time to buy.

Thanks for the heads up. Been wanting this one, so I used this opportunity to pick it up for $10 (with the help of BBY reward zone bucks).

Criterion no longer have the rights to The Third Man, or the rest of Studio Canal's library. Hence, why it's out of print. It has been released by Lionsgate/Studio Canal though.

I have the Studio Canal/Lionsgate version but they say that the Criterion version is better...
