Do you think Peirrot le Fou purchased from Criterion will ship with the clear case?

It always has, there is no digipak version for that movie.

Still shocks me they have that film which is so long with all those extras on one BD disc. (Last Emperor)
I was the first to report receiving the cases on here BUT my order was partial and was missing 2 cases. I have waited awhile now in hopes they were aware and that I would get the extra two cases but I haven't. I e-mailed them to let them know so hopefully they will get back to me.

However, I made my original order on December 4 and received my 4 cases on December 18.

Mayerling (Essential Art House edition)

Why? Not many people bought that Eclipse Series above. Many Criterion owners do not purchased Essential Arthouse releases esp. since many were re-releases. These four titles were not released in the Criterion Collection. Too bad the deepdiscount.com sale is over...these were $7.99 each I believe. or $10 and $7.99 during the BN.com sale. I expect Essential Arthouse vol. 4 to jack up in price.
I would think ANY of the soon to OOP Blu Rays will fetch a hefty price in another 2-3 years when more Criterion fanboys jump on the BD wagon and spend three times as much as the cost of a BD player (which they just can't justify now!) instead of making he investment now and getting Pierrot for $20.

I only owned Pierrot le fou BD and Coup de torchon from the new OOP list. Just ordered Grand Illusion, Trafic, Le corbeau, Peeping Tom, and Alphaville. Debating whether to buy more...

My situation with the OOP titles:

Alphaville - Need to see
Carlos Saura’s Flamenco Trilogy (Eclipse Series 6) - Need to see
Le corbeau - Own it
Coup de torchon - Need to see
Diary of a Country Priest - Need to see
The Fallen Idol - Need to see
Forbidden Games (Criterion and Essential Art House editions) - Need to see
Gervaise (Essential Art House edition) - Need to see
Grand Illusion (Criterion and Essential Art House editions) - Need to see
Le jour se lève (Essential Art House edition) - Need to see
Last Holiday (Essential Art House edition) - Seen it - Ordered it
Mayerling (Essential Art House edition) - Need to see
The Orphic Trilogy - Need to see 2/3rds; want to own Orpheus - Ordered it
Peeping Tom - Have seen; didn't want to own
Pierrot le fou (DVD and Blu-ray editions) - Have seen; didn't want to own
Port of Shadows - Own it
Quai des Orfèvres - Own it
The Small Back Room - Need to see
The Tales of Hoffmann (Criterion and Essential Art House editions) - Need to see
Trafic - Have seen; didn't want to own
Le trou - Need to see
Variety Lights (Essential Art House edition) - Have seen; didn't want to own
The White Sheik - Need to see

Grand Illusion is a no-brainer for the Studio Canal collection on Blu-ray eventually, so I'm not so stressed about that one. But all those others are going to the top of my Netflix queue. Any recommendations for which ones to check out first?

Even if Studio Canal releases any of these titles as a Blu-Ray if Criterion did a commentary track criterion may hold exclusive rights to most if not all bonus features. That is why I still own my 2 Disc of Contempt.

These four are all very good in my opinion. I own each of them. I re-watch The Fallen Idol more often than any of the others. It's a great film.

I've had my eye on Port of Shadows for some time, but would really like it on Blu-ray. I'm not sure what to do....

Just a follow up but Karen just e-mailed me concerning the 2 cases I never received with my initial December replacement order. I noticed I listed the Seventh Seal as one of the titles to replace (who knows why, total brain fart) which I obviously didn't receive along with Chungking Express. I asked to switch the TSS to LYAM and that I still needed CKE.

Within in two hours Karen responded and is sending out both cases today. Seems they are getting on top of the cases issues and I'm appreciative she got back to me so soon.

So with the recent StudioCanal news, I'm guessing we can be pretty sure that CC will never get to release Breathless on blu either as its scheduled for a UK release of 2/15, and they don't seem like they're going to allow Criterion to license any of their other titles for blu... so sad really!

I was thinking the same thing, but at the same time I have tons of standard Criterion DVDs that contain the Studio Canal Logo etc, but they still seem to be able to to keep those currently. They must have other deals for specific titles. Who knows.

A few of these future OOP titles are listed as "backordered" on Criterion's site.
Does that mean they've already gone through all the stock they had?

Picked up Pierrot Le Fou on blu during the last Barnes and Noble sale. There's nothing else on the list that I can say I'm particularly dying to get, though admittedly if there were any other blu's on there I'd probably feel the urge to pick them up. I've never been a huge collector with the DVD titles (I think I have as many Criterion blus as I have DVDs at this point) so no urge to get everything on that end.

Though I do own Alphaville on DVD. Kind of a random purchase when I picked it up. Happy about that now.

Just got this from Criterion:
OUT OF PRINT SALE

Dear Criterion collectors,

Our three least favorite initials: OOP. Since we launched the Criterion Collection more than twenty-five years ago, we’ve endeavored to keep everything we’ve published in print. But despite our efforts to renew rights, we are losing a large group of titles from StudioCanal at the end of March, and we wanted to give you advance notice that our editions will be going out of print. Until we’re out of stock, we will be offering these titles at an additional $5 off on our website. The titles are going to Lionsgate, and we don’t know when they may be rereleased. As ever, we will continue to try to relicense the films so that they can rejoin the collection sometime in the future.

Here are the titles that will soon be out of print:

Alphaville
Carlos Saura’s Flamenco Trilogy (Eclipse Series 6)
Le corbeau
Coup de torchon
Diary of a Country Priest
The Fallen Idol
Forbidden Games (Criterion and Essential Art House editions)
Gervaise (Essential Art House edition)
Grand Illusion (Criterion and Essential Art House editions)
Le jour se lève (Essential Art House edition)
Last Holiday (Essential Art House edition)
Mayerling (Essential Art House edition)
The Orphic Trilogy
Peeping Tom
Pierrot le fou (DVD and Blu-ray editions)
Port of Shadows
Quai des Orfèvres
The Small Back Room
The Tales of Hoffmann (Criterion and Essential Art House editions)
Trafic
Le trou
Variety Lights (Essential Art House edition)
The White Sheik

Take note: this may be your last chance to pick up spine number 1 from the collection.

Happy viewing!
The Criterion Collection

Looks like many of you knew, but I wanted to put up the official e-mail.

well Peeping Tom is already confirmed as being prepared for blu
(no date though)
so unless you just want the Criterion sd version I personally would just wait on the blu.
I happen to already have that one, but probably will sell it when the UK or US blu comes out.
Personally I just can't see spending the $$ to get sd versions of titles when blu versions could be coming in the next year.
now if I knew exactly which titles were going to stay sd only I would buy those for sure.

More than likely, so that can mean they are probably able to keep pressing the releases until the end of March.

Put "missing items" in the subject header. I bet that stands out over the sea of e-mails with the subject heading "replacement case".
