I'm not exactly fired up now but once I have it in my hand I'm sure that will change. I have no doubt it will find its way into the player in record time. Particularly since I'll likely be getting it in July and it's a perfect drive-in/summer title.

And yeah, I have a soft spot 50s sci-fi too. Olive did a nice job but Invasion of the Body Snatchers would have made a very nice Criterion release.

War of the Worlds would be a pretty good fit too. In fact, they could go all out and add the radio broadcast and the 1975 TV movie The Night That Panicked America.

And I would never in a million years put something like Them! or Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman on a wish list but I'd snap 'em up in a heartbeat.

Robinson Crusoe on Mars is a great Criterion title. It was one of the DVDs that I sold off recently in anticipation of upgrading to Blu-ray soon, but I got a lot of mileage out of that DVD.

Those same ships were used in The War of the Worlds (original movie) with better results, but they're great in this one just the same.

I'd love to see more 1950s era sci-fi on Criterion (although I was not particularly taken with the bottom-of-the-barrel picks on Criterion's Monsters and Madmen set). I also want Criterion to upgrade Fiend Without a Face. That was a classy and brilliant Criterion offering on DVD.

Don't know if it's your cup of tea and it's not Criterion but Night of the Creeps is a really good price right now. It's tongue-in-cheek all the way but a fun homage to those types of films. Plus, nothing sexier than a beautiful girl in a formal dress packin' a flamethrower!

I have always wanted to see ROBINSON CRUSOE ON MARS and someday I will blind buy. I think if I can save up enough for the B&N half off CC sale I'll get this with a lot more blind buys.

I own Them! on DVD, and it's one of my faves. Them! is, hands down, the best movie ever made about giant radioactive ants that attack Los Angeles, and it would be worth owning on Blu-ray just for the eerie sound effects. I've loved that flick since childhood.

I saw this a long time ago, and remember enjoying it. I did see it at Best Buy in the $7.99 bin yesterday when I was buying Schindler's List, but I did not pull the trigger. Maybe soon, though.

I'm not averse to picking up a Criterion DVD here or there in a sale, and I've had a fairly solid record since Last Temptation early last year with not being burned. But ^this^ is one I always put back even though it's cheaper because it is going to look great when it finally comes to blu. Its dystopian look and atmosphere reminds me a lot of Playtime, which looks fantastic in hi-def.

While we're on Godard: Studio Canal really needs to get to upgrading Une Femme est une Femme. I've practically given up scoring the OOP Criterion on the internets, and the Netflix stream I've found lacking.

I highly suggest renting it first. While I love it and find it a very interesting and wonderful piece of science-fiction, some may find it cheesy and un-inspired. If you go in with the mindset that it was a low budget sci-fi film from the 60s, I hghly doubt you'll be dissappointed.

I'm almost at the scene where He walks through the high voltage wires. That's always been my favorite part of the movie. If you want to watch in sync, then go to that chapter.
