They had plenty of time to get him to approve a transfer BEFORE he even went INTO production. I mean, that clue's been out for a few years.

This is true if you purchase every release. That said, of Criterion's customers, I am not sure what percentage they make up. Also, given the wide array of genres, and eras that they cover, I would rather they release more films so that some films are not held up in a queue for months or years IF they can easily do so with out exposing them to additional risk. If the only reason not to do it is so that the completists can budget their disposable income a little better, well, I think that is a bit of a silly argument. While most of these films will likely have a chance of going out of print at some point, I would think the chances of them doing so within months or a year or so is very slim.

Interesting, not something stoked at seeing released. I guess more Menzies/Famous Players-Lasky peeps are always good, though.

EDIT: Happy to see Wild Strawberries and Safety Last, though. And Marketa Lazarová seems interesting. But yet again, another month that's underwhelming as a whole.
