Wow, that would make 3 upgrades then with nothing new (yet) confirmed. Could be a great month for those wanting upgrades of some of their favourites.

Yep, many other films yet to receive blu-ray upgrades (L'Eclisse for example) share similar descriptions.

I personally feel that all the hinted at films pre-2013 should be released ASAP. That means Y Tu Mama Tambien, Wild Strawberries, and Grey Gardens.

Isn't Alfonso Cuaron busy in post production right now? Seeing as Gravity doesn't come out until Fall, Y Tu Mama Tambien may be pushed to 2014.

Unfortunately, it has always been there. Hopefully if they are in the upgrade mood, Bicycle Thieves will finally get the call...

That's what I've been wanting. All these rumored titles remain unreleased while more are just rumored..

I don't get why Criterion would sit on a title for years, assuming 1) they paid for the license up front (or at least a portion up front with perhaps royalties based on units sold afterwards) and 2) Licenses have a start and an end date. Maybe there is not a ton of demand out there for Y Tu Mama Tambien thus they are ok with sitting on it knowing they either have a long time frame in their license agreement or they can renew it easily without getting challenged.

In full disclosure though, I have no idea how licensing deals work. I am assuming Criterion paid something for it though and would think they want a return on their investment sooner rather then later.

Since Le Samouraï is my all-time favorite movie, I'm holding on to my DVD when the Blu-ray is released just so I will have a backup copy of the movie whenever I want to take it to a friend's house or something.

Yup, very frustrating. I often wonder why Criterion do not release more films in a given month. I understand you want to maintain a good balance of not tying up a ton of working capital into some of these films (which I am sure are big projects when it comes to restorations or creation of special features). But for films that they already have a license to and a higher quality print exists, I just dont get it. Wouldn't the alternative be for the timing of the license to lapse and then it goes to a competitor (or no one at all)?

Yeah. As nice as it is to constantly give us these new hints and rumors, it would be a lot better to release the titles that have been hinted at for 2-3 years now. That way, we could all move on to the newer things.

I still think we have a good chance of Le Samourai by the picture tweeted.

I honestly wish Criterion did about 5 upgrades a month and also did 4-5 new titles monthly also.

Oh no... I already think 5/6 or so releases a month is a lot to handle....10 releases would definitely be hard to keep up with.

For the June lineup, I think that Criterion should just go ahead and release every single good movie ever made, and also preemptively release every good movie that is yet to be released in the future.

This would make for a rather expensive month, but I'd rather go ahead and rip off the Band-Aid quickly, then catch up on watching all of the purchases.

Life Aquatic on DVD had DTS 5.1 audio. Same as The Rock.

Now, if it said DTS-HD MA on the Blu ray edition, then we could be excited!!
